Check this out and let me know what you guy's think. Sorry to cross post. I am just trying to put a little something together, but before I spend any money on it I wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were. I will be working on getting sponsors for the events also.

Ricky do you think this would be something Crawl would be intrested in covering?

I think monthly is un-realistic. More frequent "open" comps is a great idea though !

I agree with Patoyee , who ever organizes it is gonna hate it shortly after it gets crazy. laughing1

Yeah, I agree on the monthly thing. But it would be nice. Maybe like every other month or something. I don't know, I guess that's why I am asking for opinions. We may just have to start with one and see where it goes.

Monthly is a lot of work and wear and tear, 4-5 times a year might be doable and probably fun!

When something is available as much as that folks tend to think 'I can do that anytime' yet if you have a set series/schedule people will work toward it.

To me, the rock race world is dying for a series of longer races like KOH and the North Carolina race. MM would be good IMO to do such a series.

Also, $20 is too cheap. You have to make it worth while for the landowner and the event organizer. If the guy gong out there setting up courses is not making some jack off the deal he will burn out super fast.

Make the winnings a 'pot-split' deal. That way if only 2 people show up in a class, they get compensated for beating one person.

$20 was just a number thrown out. It would end up around 35-50. It needs to be cheap to make it more obtainable for the average joe. This is not going to be something to make anyone rich. Just to make the park some money and have some for the purse to split between the competitors.
A small portion would go to the event organizer for supply's and miscellaneous. I am willing to put these events on and not make any money off of them.

I am going to talk with Randy tonight and see what we need to do to get this thing going. thumb.gif
If anyone has a hookup with any company that might like to be involved in sponsoring events like this let me know.

Just keep in mind EVENT INSURANCE... $$$$$$$$$$$$$ gotta save the land owner and promoters butts..

Good luck, promoting is alot of work and there's no money in it thumb.gif

BTW the most enjoying comps I've been to are the local "run whatcha brung" type where there is 2 or so classes, done by tire size and everything else is unlimited... McClure had the "Kansas Krunch" every year at Cathouse and that was a BLAST.

"Just keep in mind EVENT INSURANCE... $$$$$$$$$$$$$ gotta save the land owner and promoters butts.."

This is going to be the major obstacle. Trying to keep it cheap and get the correct insurance.

Exactly... good luck with that. You get the entry fee's up above 50, and you wont get much participation outside of guys with $$ that travel, then they will expect alot more return. There is a fine line to balance between drawing average joe park memeber for fun/participation and drawing outsiders for competitiveness.

Exzacharry.... KOH didn't re-coup insurance and their entry fees were over $500 per driver X30ish drivers

That's why an "unofficial" run-whatcha brung is alot easier than a "series"

... I mean you'd have to get name tags to look official and all that.

Sorry Craig, not trying to shoot down yer ideas. A new series would be awesome but damn if it were me, the return on investment as a promoter (I'm talkin time, money, etc) I think you'd be losin your ass for bustin yer ass to put it on!

I think series , really wastn what he was going for..

i think it was a locals, participation, monthly lets beat our **** kinda thing.

First Rule of RockClub is, you dont talk about RockClub laughing1

Your not shooting down ****. It is all stuff that needs to be concedered. I think the best way to do it would be to start out as a run whatcha brung deal and as it grows it could be made in to something bigger and better. I just think we would all like a little friendly comp that we could earn little cash and have bragging rights.

P nailed it right on the head!

**** I was confusing his post about comp with wyatt's texas series thread on my site

you damn wanna-beeee promoters :flipoff1:

I think run whatcha brung would be badass---makethatshithappen!

Hell keep it invite only at first, run with no insurance, and that'll keep the stupid to a minimum thumb.gif

everyone toss $20 into the box and $20 toward randy(unless ur a mmorv member), winner takes all loller.gif

That's it now your getting it! lol. sept I think $30. 10 for comp and 20 to Morris. Unless you are a park member the it would be just $10.

I am going to try and plan for the first on to be some time mid July. Do ya'll think that will be enough notice?

I'd like to see one comp a year at MMORV, make it a big deal. Make it long with several trails, banner off the access trails so people know where to go. Start at Primos and finish at GBU via Copperhead and Gauntlet, etc.

****.. ima have to get faster steering if were gna do a rally race beteween obstacle type event... :flipoff1:

That would need to be more for the big boys. That way you could bring in big sponsors, big entry fee and big purses. maybe at the end of the comp season next year... It would be really cool and there are plenty of trails that would be perfect for that. pepper.gif
