That's dumb
Well I think my dad might just be one of the luckiest people alive today! Sorry I don't have pics but I'll try to give a good mental image.
Got a phone call from my mom toad telling me I need to cal my dad sometime and just talk to him. I was like okay, what the hell, I'll call him in a little bit. Well I called him and he told me a story about what happened to him today around lunch time...He was working up highway 43 just north of Fayette, on a turn-around for a cell phone tower. (he builds roads and ****) He said he got finished and had the motorgrader loaded already and was on his way to the low boy with the borrowed 2007 John Deere Skid steer. The area they were working in was a long straight away up hill. He said that when he pulled out onto the highway with the skid steer he saw two dump trucks that were 400-500 yards away. He was driving on the shoulder of the road and about 75 yard away from the low boy when he glanced back to see where the dump trucks were when all of a sudden all he saw was TIRE!!!! He braced himself (he was also buckled in and had the safety bar down) and all of a sudden WHAM! Dump truck hit him sending him spinning like a top. All of the crew guys came running over to see if he was okay and to everyone's, even his, suprise, he was okay. Not a scratch, nothing. It Bent the wheel and messed up the tire on the skid steer and that is all. Although there might be something bent or broke internally he couldnt see that's all the damage. The dump truck on the other hand broke wheel, hole in tire, steering all jacked up and the suspension was a little racked! The crew guys asked the truck driver "Man, you didn't see us flagging you to slow down?" The driver said, "Nope, didn't see you and didn't see the skid steer at all!" One of the guys told my dad that the driver didn't even hit his brakes until after he hit my dad. WTF! My dad told me that he said there was a car in the other lane so that's prolly why he didn't swerve.
Man after he told me that I wanted to call the guy that owns the company that owns the dump truck and let him have it! But I didn't cause it wouldn't do any good. Sorry for the long winded story but maybe this will help someone later down the road. I really think the driver was either on his phone or CB and not paying attention!
