I've got a Spartan up front and has less than 10 rides on it. In a D44 for reference. My driver side tire pulls like normal but the passenger side pops and jerks and sometimes just jerks a little and doesn't pull. I thought it might be a hub, swapped them and still same thing. Pulled the cover tonight and the dope had a little water in it but not much. Here's the kicker the gear dope is sticky like it has glue in it or something. Between your fingers it'll stretch like you got a bugger or something. Playing with the locker the driver side pops back if I push it in but the passenger side doesn't. The same springs control both sides so what gives? Any help would be great.

Ya may have answered. Ya on question. Clean it up maybe.

The springs push in and out but I'm thinking they may be worn even though it's not that old or broken but still in there. Some of the pins have more resistance than others.

That could be the problem also when I had one that gear dope additive (dont no the name but is in a small tube i think it is a blue and yellow)seemed to help with the locker

My brother put the dope in it and I'm wondering if it's a thicker dope than what I normally run too. Guess I'm pulling the front apart tomorrow.

Are you supposed to run the additive/friction modifier stuff with a lunchbox locker? I've never heard one way or the other. :dunno:

I am not 100% but someone told me to and it seemed to work better also it kinda makes sense bc the easier it moves the better it should work but I don't claim to be a lunch box locker guru so your guess is as good as mine

I never have and I've run them for years. The more I mess with this one the more I think the springs are shot. 20 bucks shipped so it's worth a try replacing them.

I cleaned it up and it worked well enough to pull the front tire that wasn't pulling up a tree about 3 feet. I was sent the wrong spring kit so haven't replaced those yet. Good luck with the lockright. I never had any luck with them, mine unloaded on side hills and under throttle from day one and springs never lasted more than a year or so. Spring kits are cheap for them too.
