How hard (what would it require, in a fairly cheap manner) to convert a manual steering '69 for bronco to power steering??? I know there are kits out there, but we're trying (i'm pushing hard...) not to have to spend a gazillion dollars to get a kit, if it can be done cheaper. any direction or help would be awesome.:awesomework:

pump, pulley, hoses, and steering box. Maybe steering linkage and reservoir, dunno specifics but that's the general pieces.

thank you captain obvious:fawkdancesmiley: no j/k. ya, he has the pump apparently, maybe the bracket for it, and that's about it...

edit:

it has a 351 in it now as opposed to the original 302...

There are several different otions as to the box. West Texas Offroad has a box that they sell thats rebuilt and requires drilling a couple of new holes. There are several other options too. Checkout Classicbroncos.com for all the diferent choices. I personally put a box out of a 78 Ford pickup with 2wd guts into my 72 Bronco with no problem.

Stock bronco boxes are MONEY! I have thought about doing the 4x4x2 boxes. How hard was it to take the guts out of the 2wd box and put them in the 4wd box? I need options here.
Cory,

I din't do mine, I just had WTO do the swap and tap it at the same time. Several places sell them already swapped and ready for a decent price. I actually had a hard time finding the parts to do my swap.

That is why I want to get a kit so I dont have to deal with finding these parts that are pseudo hard to find. Wild Horses has a kit for 750 bones that I am considering.
Cory,

theres an easy and more importantly cheaper way to put PS on a bronco. On our race rig we use a saginaw box from a 2 wheel drive chevy truck(mounts on the outside of the frame ) you do have to make up the steering shaft and you can get brackets to mount a saginaw pump from a van with the 351w. I will take some pics of the mount since there is some fab work needed to the frame to make the box work.

ya, that seems like a lot of work though, btw, I ordered up the joint you sugested before in another thread and it was way to big at the splined end. are you sure it's 13/16s? or are you using a different steering box?

yea its a little work but considering you can do the whole swap for $100-$200 and spare parts are really cheap to me it makes it worth a day of fab work. when you consider the cost of a saginaw box over the ford unit after you break or wear one out it becomes even a better deal. The early boxes were the 13/16 (uses flare fittings for the hoses) later one are smaller and use o rings insted of flares. you should always measure before buying though since there are a couple of differant sizes. anyway heres the pics. let me know if you want to come take a look and we can set something up.

You have a race rig?:wtf:

BC Broncos moved to Texas and like was said before James Duff moved to Knoxville. Duff's daughter took over the business and wanted a more central location for the business.
