I'm running through the options that I have and I'm looking for advice. My current setup is a 5.3/NP435/Ford 205. I recently bought a TH400 and I'm pretty certain on how to mate it to the 5.3. My problem is with the tranny to t-case mounting. I know that AA makes an adapter kit, but it runs over $600. I've had a couple people suggest that I run a D300, but I figure buying a D300, twin-sticking it, flipping it and probably regearing it, I might as well just spring some extra cash for an Atlas. I'm trying to stay as cheap as possible, but I don't want a hack job either. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys have.

Check on Pirate4x4.com. I was thinking that you can use the input shaft from a GM 205 from a Th400,put the shaft into the Ford 205. I saw a buggy at Harlan, some time back. The dude told how he had did it, said he found out how to on Pirate4x4. Sorry ,I can help you more.

i can tell you this from personal bygawd experence.....when your gonna do sum weird mating- USE A LOT OF FAWKING GREASE SON!

I am running a GM 32 spline input shaft in my Ford 205. I had to use that work with my doubler, because Duffy was out of the 31 spline versions and was goign to be a while before more were made. as for the adapter portion, you might have to buy the AA version...

Get an adapter from a 90 and down (to 81) 3/4 ton chevy, the 208's might have been taller/different length than the 241. It has 400 on 1 side, 6 bolt round on the other.
Pull the rear output housing off the main case of the 205, reposition the 10 or so big needle bearings in teh back with grease.
Pull the front output out and put a chevy output in. Cake.
The adapter might need drilling/milling/etc.

I just put a ford 205 in my smith buggy with a turbo 400, Essentially Offroad made it for me 540$ shipped and seems to work great, it can be clocked anyway you want it then you finish weld the trasfer case end flange

I bought one already done then built another a few years ago put a 32 spline input in had to do a little machining on bearing cover and adapter for the bearing cover to go inside adapter renotched the adpter for the shift rail for a flat clock and i think drilled and tapped 3 new holes in the 205 worked fine up till i sold the buggy
