I am working on it as I have time, my work doesn't let me spend too much time on this. I have most of the parts, just don't have the time. You won't see alot of progress, hopefully it will be ready for EJS.

Needs a splash of paint to keep rust down, but it looks cool. Id like to see it done. What did it start as? The 4.0 or the 2.8? My friend had one with a 2.8 and that thing never quite ran right. The truck wheeled pretty good though with some different wheels and tires.

kinda Iffy on those rear links man, something is gonna give. you can see them bind already. What front diff is that, 70 center section ???

Actually they don't bind at all, they twist almost completely sideways both directions, and go all the way up, and pretty much drop totally out from under the Jeep(I will have to use limiting straps to keep the axle under it), also the links are made of 1.75" x 1/4" Dom tubing. Front and rear suspension was designed on suspension software. The only thing I wish I could have corrected, would have been the antisquat, it is a little higher than I would have wanted. BTW they are 14 bolts front and rear.

It started as a 2.5l 2wd with Ba/10 tranny

Is that a jackstand that you made by putting a piece of square tube around a piece of round tube and tack welded it? :wtf:

Actually alot of that stuff was in the shop when we got there, I added the pipe, to make it taller, I have the inside pipe pretty long to maintain stability. The funniest part is the base is a steel wheel.

It hurts me to see some good quality parts next to some questional fabrication and engineering:booo:

So you found stuff that was built like that and used it? You didn't even at least build it yourself so you know its sturdy? Wow, haha.

Briejer, I was kinda thinking the same thing with only 1/4" wall tube for links, but to each his own.

Don't worry about all the negative comments. The last thing those guys built was a bowl of cereal. I think it's rad that you are taking on a project of this size on your own. I mean what's the worst thing that could happen.... It doesn't work the first time and you may have to change something? Some of us learn by trying. So... props.

I wasnt trying to be negative, sorry if it seemed that way. Re-reading it I can see how that would come across wrong.

All I was trying to do was point out that I was a little worried for your safety as I would be anyone with those jackstands, and then I noted that the 1/4" wall was a little thin, but like someone said, at least you're building it.

What kills me though, is the last time I asked for help on a project similar to this, all I got was "dont build it like that", "do it right the first time" and so on when in fact all I wanted to do was build it and learn along the way. I applaud you for actually getting out and building it, as I wish I had carried out my plans that everyone else shot down. I may still someday since I think it would be fun to build and learn, fix it as it breaks, and so on.

As for the wall thickness, I would just be worried about rocks bashing on it and so on, so maybe run it with the 1/4" wall stuff to make sure you like it, but sleeve it with something bigger after you know you like it like that and save the dough?

Keep it updated! Although, I still think you need some paint for color :flipoff:

Actually I appreciate the feedback, the other day I started thinking that I would sleeve it with some thicker material when I get it closer to finished. The negative, and positive comments help me to think about things I would not have considered. As far as the jack stands go, the square blocks at the top, are pretty much spacers, cause the stands themselves are too short to hold it up where it needs to be, to setup the front springs.

Getting Closer

So I am moving along, not much left til I get my doubler adapter. I have a little bit of reinforcement welding, and I have to pick up my tubing to sleeve my links. Got some wiring that I need someone to do... Plus I need to get my Exo/Ento cage built.

that shop is right on the edge of highway 2, always see somebody's rig out front or on the side of that place.

Sweet build by the way!

Thanks, I really appreciate the positive feedback. It is really a slow process, and a work in progress, so I have to get it done, and then fix whatever fails.
