thanks. i will give them a call tomorrow.
very difficult to start. cranks and cranks. its getting fuel and has enough presure in the fule lines. when you can get it too start the rpm's bounce up and down and i cant get it to idle. new fuel pump and filter, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, cps, and many more new parts in the last 2 weeks.

You should ping Avanteone, he has a repair shop in Auburn, and is very knowledgable with XJ's and their engines..
would that cause the rpm's to bounce? i have played with it but have not replaced it. how can i tell if its goin bad?

Mine acted all kinds of goofy when it went out. Wouldnt start, idle real low, die, idle way up. Its worth a shot.

I this is an '87/89 then it's either TPS or the big connector above the brake booster is corroded. (I had to take apart all my underhood connectors and clean them when I got my truck)

Yeah, my 88 had that problem. The big "main connector harness thingy" right above the booster was full of crap. I cleaned it out with some brake parts cleaner and a blast from an air gun. Packed it full of fresh di-electric grease. No problems after that.

The Renix ignition system, for whatever reason, is NOT compatible /w Platinum plugs, and Bosch's especially. Pull 'em and replace with STANDARD cheap autolite's or champions and see how it runs.

Did Adam give you guys any spare sensors with it when you bought it? I can't recall if we had tried swapping the TPS at all or not, but I do know I gave him a bunch of spares of misc. sensors and such off my motor when I parted my rig out. The TPS on mine was newer and worked perfect.
ok bought some champions and i still cant get it going.
