Most of you know about my charity. It means a lot to me. Jimmy Boykin and Morris Mountain gave me a check for $700 from the August Rock Race proceeds. After I won the $1,000 as SETTC Champion, Jimmy **** talked me into matching what the racers and others at the awards ceremony would donate 1:1. I am proud to say the Jimmy took $620 on my grand. So we have a check going to Shwachman Diamond.

$700 - Jimmy and Morris Mountain
$620 - SETTC racers and friends
$620 - from me.

That's $1,940 for a great charity.

I want to thank everyone. Charitys are really having it tough in these hard economic times, for people to pull hundred dollar bills out really touched my heart.

john, fortunately i have never had one a one on one experience w/ any charity and because of that i have never had that "passion" about any charity, until SDS... i get a lump in my throat everytime i hear you tell the story and i am proud to do whatever i can to help, i cant imagine your anguish... there are underlying situations about the $700 that wont be discussed, but i feel proud to be a part of SDS getting it, i assure they needed it alot more than i did... if this adds to the disgusting image that i portray to the wheeling community, then im going to keep it up...

Jimmy you do have a piss poor attitude, but if it works for you keep it. Between you and John G. y'all have raised a good bit of money and awareness for a good cause. Congrats on the **** talking to raising more money for them.

it was a great idea and I am glad I could help out. you might post this over on Clay County as well, we might be able to do some sort of charity run and get some of our guys involved.

We will match Jimmy's and MM's $700 from the benefit ride we all had in honor of my dad who passed away. He loved helping people and he loved kids. So we would be honored if would accept our donation. If anyone would like to see the ride photos or what we are doing we have a facebook page titled:
Walt Williams Golden Deeds

Shoot me an address to mail the check to and what name needs to be on the check.

This is really cool. I am glad I was able to take part in this. I have never heard of this disease before the settc. Perhaps next time we can do more.

Getting the checks out today.

Here is the letter I sent with it:

You have to love the off roading community. They are all like family. Many kids, moms, dads, and friends going to the woods to ride their off road vehicles. Having been involved with two grandchildren having, and dying, from SDS, and a third that is a carrier, SDS is dear to my heart. I have spend much time raising money for SDS.

The off roading community has heard my pleas, sometimes with tears in my eyes. Most off roaders and off road parks in Alabama know my passion. They are always willing to help.

In August, Morris Mountain Off Road Park in Delta, Alabama held a race event called the Rock Rally. This event was a race of four laps of about six miles each. The 100 degree day, really made it a tough race. The promoter, and friend, Jimmy Boykin, along with the park donated $700.00 from the proceeds to SDS.

This past weekend, Clay County 4x4 Club from Florida held an event called: South East Tough Truck Challenge. It was a three day event with multiple difficult trails being done. It was based on time, with penalties for hitting cones or going out of bounds. The winner was not decided until the last event on Sunday. It was pouring down rain. After I broke on Saturday, and fixing it between events, I was able to come away as the overall winner. I won $1,000.00 plus some nice prizes. Jimmy, the same one the donated $700.00 above, challenged me to match what he could raise from the other racers and friends that were at the awards ceremony. I accepted the challenge. I was amazed when some took hundred dollar bills out. In about five minutes, we had $620.00 laying on the stage. So, with my match, that gives SDS $1,240.00.
I posted on a local off road internet forum, that these two events had raised $1,940.00 for SDS. A couple of hours later, I saw the following post: “We will match Jimmy's and MM's $700 from the benefit (motorcycle) ride we had in honor of my dad who passed away. He loved helping people and he loved kids. So we would be honored if you would accept our donation. Walt Williams Golden Deeds.”

I bumped it by another $160.00.

So, when good things happen, sometimes they just snow ball. That brings the total raised by the off roading community this time to $2,800.00.

Sincerely For The Kids
