I am a Toyota guy, and have always liked sticking with factory junk. I have a chance to pick up an 80's 4runner with no motor and an auto tranny/t-caseuke: .... I have, though, always kicked around the idea of putting a domestic motor into one if I got one. I was thinking of either sourcing a 4.3 or going with the obligatory 350. I would actually love to get ahold of a 383, but who has that kind of money?!
Suggestions....?
I like a couple of things about this idea. First, if I went with the 350, probably no need for regearing. No cost on that one! Would the 4.3 get away with 4.10's??? Also, I am quite a stickler on having a manual tranny in my rigs. Suggestions? I have a stock tranny and t-case from another 4runner (V6) that is actually quite tough. Free, too!
Or, if I can find one cheap enough, I might just stick with a higher miled Yota motor until I figure out just what is is I want...
Thank ahead of time!
OH, and what would one be willing to pay for a rig like this???
