I want to figure out the best quickest method to mount this radiator. Lookin for thoughts...

Issues: my understanding is that Rads are to be mounted at the tank... this particular rad has big flat pieces that come off the bottom and are tempting the **** out of me to use for mounting laughing

The only mounting surface Im concerned with is were the rad will be mounted at the bottom, the top is not and issue to me ( got that part handled.. )

If you mounted it from the bottom I would use something that went all the way across. That radiator looks allot like mine and mine had two thick pads it rested on as well as 4 bolts on the tanks. My radiator actually bent but the pads was only about 2" wide. I think if it was solid all the way across it would not bend.

As hard as you are going to pound on it though I would personally try to mount it from the tanks.

Want some welded on there?
Give me a call and we'll see what we can do.

I would get some rubber and make a U palte for the bottom to sit in. Weld some tabs on the top for some bolts to go through, run a bar across the top for it to bolt to with rubber isolators and run the mess out of it.

Sorry mine has brackets on the side. How about using something like the old Chevy trucks used. Was about two inches wide with padding and was made like a L bracket. Kind of a cradle for it to set in.
I would say make them about 4" wide and maybe do 3 or 4 across the bottom. Just my .02

Weld aluminum tabs off the side of the radiator and mount from there. That's is the way both of mine are done. Don't go to Nabor's Radiator to have it done. I did not ask the price. They charged me $85 and I supplied the aluminum tabs. Lost my business. :flipper:

I can meet you at dad's shop Monday night and fix it then if you want.

You campin out at GR

Hmmm... so tabs on the rad tig'd in place, then some "rubber isolators" on each side of the tab to keep it from rippin up the tanks... sound like a plan errr one ?? thumb.gif

Yes!!! Already loaded up. Going over in the morning.

Thats what I would do. The rubber just to keep it from busting the tank.
Just figure out where you want the mounts and we'll put them on.

10-FO I can bring some thicker alum as well to cut the tabs out of thumb.gif

Im thinking 4 tabs as mentioned then Ill lay a mat of rubber under the rad were it will somewhat rest on the bar behind my winch. That will give me a grip of room for my Taurus fan on the engine side of the rad ( I hate lookin at ugly fans through the grille ) and get me mounted up !!

Ill sharpie up the Rad were Id like tabs before I drop it off. Kickass man Thanks a Billions drool
