***************************GOOD NEWS**********************
Scott Lang will be taking over MSORP. We have talked about this many times in the past, but I felt obligated to give Randy S. a chance at running the park first since he had always been there to help me out. Randy, as many of you know that ever met him is a jam up guy who would drop what he was doing to come help you out. Several moths back when the tornadoes blew through the area, Randy's house was badly damaged and his shops were pretty much blown away. Randy has been trying to get everything rebuilt back, but the task of going to work and running an off-road park are creating some major delays for him. With winter coming up quickly, Randy decided to step down from the park. This should allow him some much needed time on the weekends to get his place restored before winter.
With that said, what ever rumors arise from this changing of management, you will know the truth. My goal is to keep the park open for everyone.
This is a positive move for all involved. Allow me to give you a little history here. I first met Scott some years back when I got into rock crawling by chance at Morris Mountain. It was my first trip to the park, and my first time ever attempting any sort of rock crawling. I watched Scott lead a group of his friends up the GB&U climb. I was impressed with his awesome spotting abilities and decided to ask him to spot me as well. Scott in his fun loving nature said sure, bring your rig on up. I ran back to my new toy which by the way was a full bodied 85 K-5 blazer with 39.5 TSL with 1-tons and 5:13's. The truck only had a 6 inch lift, but the body was neatly trimmed to fit the bigger tires with out rubbing. I had Detroit's front and rear with a 205 and a 680 HP roller motor.
As i approached the climb I saw Scott begin to laugh. He took the time to point me in the right direction and did get me up the climb in that big ole Blazer. I later learned that his laughter came from seeing the big ole bulky blazer with a clueless driver trying to tackle a big obstacle.
We rode with Scott and his friends for the bulk of that day before heading home. I had no idea at the time that I would become such good friends with Scott and his buddies. Every trip out with these guy's is a blast. So if you are an old pro at the sport or just getting into it, give Scott a chance to show how to properly tackle obstacles so you don't destroy your rig. ROCK CRAWLING IS THE BEST SPORT YOU WILL EVER GET INTO. Scott knows so much more about this sport than I do, plus his 4X4 shop is really close to the park. This move is a win -win for Scott, the park, the community and you the off-roader. Due to the changing economy, I have taken on a lot of different projects in an attempt to basically reinvent myself. Leasing out the park was the best way I could see to keep it open while I go about my duties of growing my other companies and still making quality time with my wife and kids. I am still in this sport, and will be attending as many events as I can in the future.
