When mounting an aluminium fuel cell do you guys put rubber around it to keep it from chafing/cracking/stressing? It's being strapped down, but i'm not sure if i should just make a fairly snug cradle around the base, strap over the top and call it good... or do i need to put some sort of buffer or bushing in there. IT shouldn't be subdued to too much flex from the frame and whatnot twisting as it should be stiffened up enough...

any help or advise would be awesome!:awesomework: :corn:

i just don't want to ruin me new shiny object! lol

I would put something in there. Mines plastic with metal straps, but I put Durodyne flex connector rubber from commercial hvac application. (thats what my dad does so we had some laying around.) You could also use canopy gasket or something. It would be wise for long term, because vibration might cause the straps to eat into the cell.

I would suspend it with rubber bushings and not worry about it. Make sure the mounting system doesn't apply any torsion to the cell and that the cell does not vibrate against any other hard materials.

thanks for the help guys, especially you paulie:awesomework: :fawkdancesmiley:

I went ahead and and spaced it out to use some rubber matting i had laying around from my old work. and almost have the straps finished up, i used crash's strap idea from jeepless' sami since i really liked the way it turned out. just need to weld tabs on for the straps to sinch down on.
