so, who's seen/got a slick way to mount rear TJ springs, both ends....

thinking about leaving one end not fully captured to get a little bit of cheater droop out of it, cuz I'm not going to have much droop if I don't.....damned thing is too light in the rear now...
can't search on pirate......so lets see it here...

Be carefull with them being non captured. The upper mount has to be long enough for the spring to slide down and not fall out. A real pain when the spring comes out and you come down on the bump stops.

oh, absolutely Gary......
I'm not talkin' about just letting them fall.....I'll put a limit strap on them or something......I just need to cheat a little more droop out of them...

can you take a picture of how they're mounted in a stock-ish setup???

Here ya go Berne (sorry for the huge pics)

This one you can see the retaining "saucer" or whatever you want to call it.
This disc is smaller than the apex of the last coil. The "tower"
was made and then tapped to accept the bolt. The spring was
put into place and then the disc was bolted to the "tower."
Plenty of cheater droop with no violent spring ejections.

Here you can see the whole passenger side spring. 7

Heres the drivers side top bumpstop.

And lastly, a closeup of the retainer thing-a-ma-bob.

thanks Karl....

so, is the top retained???.....or does it fall away and stay aligned w/ that bumpstop the goes through it?

The top falls away and stays retained with the bumpstop.

With the cheater droop, the spring is "loose" in there, but there isn't any way it can come out. If it does come out, I will have been doing something seriously wrong. :D

I just reworked my entire rearend. i did acheive max articulation with a stock spring and 2" shocks prior to my zj coil swap. they will come loose but should not come off aslong as you keep bottom stable. The pics show the best salution i have seen yet. good luck pm if you need any help
