so im finally doing my SAS on my 87 4runner :flipoff: and i was talking to my friend and he said im going to have to move my steering box forward. how far am i going to have to move it?? any help would be appriciated

far enough forward so that your drag link will not come in contact with your tie rod when your driver front flexes. it depends on how far forward you move your front axle when you swap it. typically its only a couple inches.

thats the problem idk how far forward i want to move my axle im going to be running 37's so i think i have to move it 3/8ths of an inch or so?

Cut the rad support for clearance and push it as far forward as the frame and spring mounts will let you.

move my spring perch that far or my sterring box?

Your steering box. Get the axle and everything under it first and then mount your box. Nothing worse then mounting it and finding out you didn't move it to the right spot. :;

3/8ths, are you kidding me? move that axle in inches not 1/8s of an inch. like two to four inches, that will actually help. and P.S....... youll need it when going to bigger rubber. dont lie, everone gets bigger rubber someday.:cheer:

wtf is 3/8 going to do? :corn:

and yes move that bitch/box as far as you can, it wont hurt anything, push it right up to the body mount under the radiator.:beer:

i know im saying i would have to move the spring hanger 3/8ths of an inch fro the axle to be moved forward one inch correct im going to be running 37s so idk how far forward my spring hanger needs to be

If you move the spring hanger 3/8 in. forward, it will move the axle forward....3/8"....:rolleyes:

Dont screw with the spring hanger. Put it flush to the front of the frame. Your springs will determin where your axle is going to be. I'm running 4" marlins and clear 36's. I had to trim the fenders to run 38.5's but they'll fit. Push the steering box all the way forward and with the pitman arm installed rotate it as close to the frame(without interference)as possible to keep the spring from hitting it at full compression.
