So I've got the room between my TR/DL for my axle to shift forward about an inch. Is there any cons to just redrilling the spring perch/u-bolt plate and moving the axle forward an inch? The only other thing I can see having to change is the angle of my shock mounts so they aren't offset an inch.

Or am just being a retard and not seeing an obvious problem with this

That is what we did on FiFo's XJ.

But we did it with his rear axle, and moved it back about 2 inches. No problems so far, and he beats his Jeep like a red headed stepchild.

same with whit trash. if i were to do that id plate the top of the perch so it wouldnt oval.
It's a 1/4" thick perch....you think it would oval? I am just trying to keep down on the height of the perches since I am close to having TR to leaf clearance problems

What steering setup do you have? check clearance between pitman arm and tie rod on a drivers side stuff. The shocks probobly arent a big deal. Cycle the suspension and check for binding.

when i did my sas i just redrilled the hole in my spring perch one inch back. i havent have any problems so far
