so...the wifey and I have been throwing the idea around moving again in a few years, maybe sooner. I have talked to a few of you about it, but I figured I would get a general idea from the rest of ya. we definately want land, no more living in a sub division with stupid fawkin rules and regs and fee's.
Jacksonville is nice, but its damn expensive to live here and I feel like I dont want my kids to grow up in a huge city (when I have some)....

gimme your thoughs! :drinkers:

Brian

oh yea, I hear there is some good wheelin up that way? :flipgotcha: :flipoff1:

yea, we definately will be checking that out. we are not in a hurry, for sure. it would be nice if Ashley would be able to stay home for the first few years after we have a kid, but with how expensive it is down here, there is no way to be able to live on my income alone.....

Sheep, is she even considering it?

When and if you do move to AL let me know....I have 2 1/2 arces near Paul's that I could sell you if I have not built a home on it by then.

It is on privately owned 52 arces with a private drive

wow...thanks for the offer Sis, I appreciate it. I would really like to have atleast 10 acres, but I guess I could always start smaller.
Does anyone on here hunt/fish? I grew up doin that stuff and miss being in the woods. what are some good websites to look for land/homes?

Thanks

Brian

I just moved here from Kansas. I really like it here.

Wish I had the funds to buy 10 acres but dont for now.

Just bought a place on top of a mountain in Eva, AL. It at least has 1 acre in a VERY small community but that is what we were looking for.

Hoping to find somwhere to wheel, turkey and deer hunt as well as some good camping spots.

the land is beautiful and the 52 acres is owned by Paul's in-laws. There is a spring on the property and some bluffs, with lots of woods.

I hunt and fish....hell I got a 80 acre lake right beside my place, and 1400 acres that my buddy owns.....BTW I could get you a job :flipgotcha: it may not be the dream job, but it will help support the dream hobby. :flipoff1:

I live about 20min from you. as far as camping there are a bunch of places...Have you heard of Smith Lake yet? Bankhead National Forest? The closest wheeling places for us are Gray Rock, Morris Mountain, Wheelin in the Country. As far as hunting there are quite a few options as well. Skyline is just one of them.

Yeah the Banhkeahd NF (Sipsey Wilderness) is great for camping and hiking. Some beautiful stuff there, especially when the falls are flowing.

I hunt, I think the best hunting is in south alabama, I grew up on smith lake, it has some nice sized fish but I believe its one of the hardest lakes to fish around.

well, the deer hunting has to be better up there than it is here.....damn deer are the size of large dogs..

are there any military installations around up there? It would be nice to have a civilian contractor job for the government....but, sometimes they are hard to come across.

Smith Lake rocks, offshore property is still fairly reasonable and there are large parcels available in the $4k-$7k per acre range. The Sipsey Wilderness and Bankhead National forest are further out but it's worth the drive. www.smithlakerealy.com - Byarsrealty.com and whitepepperrealestate.com are the local land pimps.
