This is gonna be a total noob question just fyi

I got pulled over for no mud flaps on my truck...problem is if the mud flaps just hang straight down they are gonna rub the tire...do they make some sort of custom mud flaps that can come down but go back a little bit ? I have till the 19th or I gotta pay 190 bucks! Any help is appreciated

I had the same problem on my tacoma I drilled a hole in the center of the mudflap and ran a cable back to the frame and when I go wheeling i can pull them up to the bottom of the box so I dont rip them offwhen backing up in mud deep snow etc.

you don't happen to have pics do you? I want to make sure I get what your saying.

They make some that are called kick back or set back, that will do what you want. Action Accessories sells some.

You could make some easily about of fiberglass and can mould them in any sahpe you want :awesomework:

Mud flaps do not have to be located in the wheel-well. You can easily mount them to the rear bumper area. Mine are mounted with a bracket and quick disconnect pin (on the rear bumper) so that they are easily removed for wheeling, and easily reinstalled as Cop-repellant.

this is what i did when i was still driving mine on the road.. i made a set that would slip thrugh the hole on my tow recevier. pin together then hang off the rear bumper basicly.. there is a company that sell some like this for alot of $.. i made mine out of junk laying around....

That's a good point...

What about for the front?

From what the officer said because the tires stick out past the body a bit they are needed on the front

i was never told that.. i was told that i needed some sort of wheel flare4 for the front.... a chunk of rubber sticking an inch or so out around the wheel well would work cheap flare..

technically my ticket says no mud flaps OR fender flares..so I guess I can take that as I need both or one or the other...but knowing Wilsonville police..it probably means both. So i dunno..i'll try to get just the rear on and see if the court lets me pass like that.

sfgsd

go get receipts from a local shop for a set of flares and flaps just to save your self the ticket then that gives you time to fix it
