muffler??????

ok so i know that this has alrety been posted but i didnt find anything that would help i have an 87 4runner with a 22re and headman header and 2 1/4from the header back with a cat and a thrush muffler. i want a deep throaty sound but the guy said it will always sound like a ricer cuz its a 4 banger any help would be much appriciated

make sure there is a tailpipe.

Get a PA speaker and play some V8 exhaust sound effects! Seriously, it would be pretty difficult to make a 22RE sound like a V8. My 2RZ sounds okay, but it still sounds like a 4 banger.

yep 40 series flowmaster , or try jones, they are a flowmaster ripoff out of canada, stainless and cheaper, it will sound throaty but it will still sound like a throaty 4 banger

2.25" 40 series Flowmaster is what I run also. Low and throaty, but gets raspy in the higher RPMs (3500+). I thought about running a glass pack bullet type muffler or something as a presilencer to try and quiet it down a little and take the edge off, but Im lazy.

Ive noticed using the same muffler on the same truck in the same spot with different tail pipe configurations, Ive gotten different sounds too (obviously). Its a little louder now than it was with my old tail pipe which was less free flowing and had those "wrinkle bent" pieces. My new one is more free flowing with smooth bends.
