1995 S10, 2.2 4cyl, 5 speed. the truck starts first crank, idles fine, takes off normal, runs like crap under the load of normal driving when I get to a steady RPM,and runs fine at WOT. It feels like a fule issue but I dont really know. I have a fuel cell in it with an inline pump and both are like brand new. new fuel filter, new plugs and wires, new muffler. The problem started last summer and after a long break from working on it I decided to try to figure this problem out. I originally thought it was vapor lock cause I didnt have a vent hole in teh fuel cell cap but today I drove it with the cap loose and it didnt help at all. does anyone have any idea what could be my problem? besides the fact its a POS 2.2 4cyl

Vacuum lines, check those, my 2.8L had a tree of them...

EDIT: just realized your's is a lot newer than my ever was... Are there any TPS sensors on it? :eeek:

yeah there is a TPS. I think I may try that first. it makes sense that the TPS could be the problem since its only when driving and not at idle or WOT.

My dad just had that issue with his toyota and also a fuel regulator "brick" thingy.... :eeek:

Going to be hard to tell whats going on without seeing some data.

I know, thats the shitty part. Cant really take the truck anywhere and the shop in town wants like 170 bucks to put it on a scope.

the TPS is only 30 bucks. I think I'll try that since its cheap and if it doesnt help then I will suck it up and pay to have it scoped.

You can also check the tps with a meeter.

is the TPS adjustable on that one?
if so, it will need set, once u replace it.

how about fuel pressure? have u tested it? having a new pump doesnt really mean anything.
throw a pressure tester on there, and run the gauge under the wiper arm, so u can see it while ur driving..and watch it, as its ****ing up.

I just remembered I sold my old parts S10 to teh neighbor. its a 96 but should have the same TPS on it. I'll borrow his real quick and see if that helps since I know his works fine. if that doesnt work I'll try the find a fuel pressure guage.

thanks for the help guys :awesomework:

well I swapped in my neighbors TPS and that seems to be the problem. I drove it around the neighborhood with no issues until right before my driveway it had a slight cough/sputter like it was doing before but it may have been from the trucking being so bouncy and coming down a slight hill. I'm gonna take it out for a little longer drive next time and see how it goes.

well that wasnt it but I have found out one more detail on teh issue. it only runs like crap after it has warmed up. last time I just fired it up and drove off. this time I let it warm up for a few minutes and took it out and it acted up right away.

atleast I'm not dumb enough to try and make a wheeler out of it :fawkdancesmiley:
