I had an interesting evening... Got home and decided Id drive the buggy over to the land behind our lot. All's going just fine until I decide i see this sweet "would be" trail. So like any intellegent person with near no gas ( from riding last weekend ) no tools, and no help... I start working my way on through. Things go just fine until I decide I better back out of this mess before something goes bad.

Backing out of said mess proved to be what went wrong... laughing1

laughing1

I flopped the buggy twice into the bank. one time I got out of driving the other I winched the front off to a tree then eased it back. Mind you it is NOT liking running on its side as it keeps starving for gas. It dies frequently and I have to winch frequently to get it somewhat level again to get it started. This continues until it wont start anymore... and long story short. I winch my battery dead for the most part.

Wonderful..

Call Ambo, she shows at her uncles ( these woods are basically in thier backyard ) with a little gas, jumper cables and we call them. He's in Pelham , in route, says hold on we will go get it with the tractor.

( Called Brennan too but he was eating dinner... then his junk wouldnt even start... )

Uncle Lamar and I head down with tractor and 2 farmer chains.. tractor is small and has bush hog attached, oh boy. Did I mention its also a 2wd.

We get within sight of the buggy crime scene and Uncle Lamar decides to try to cross a tree across the trail on a very steep down hill... wedges said tree under frontend stradling it all the way until it rests against the brushhog and Tractor is now completely in-mobile.

P hikes out of woods for 2nd time... Uncle Lamar says " this is a job for tommorow" Im not leaving the buggy overnight so I call JRich.

To be continued................

Re: All teh stupid R belong to P !

I forgot on the first "hike" out... I had to go survivor man... I still have fitty damage from coming off the back of the fitty at MMORV 2 weekends ago, 3rd gear in shorts left a nice couple of skinned up knee's.

Im hiking out and get one of those springy back mini tree's straight to the wound and it blows the bottom of my **** wide open and starts draining blood into my shoe...

Having my camera bag in hand I begin to rummage through it to see what i have for resources... HB's soccer schedule, that will work... fold it up printed side out as to not get the ink poisoning... then I took the hang from the shoulder strap for the camera and applied a wrap to hold it in place... laughing1

Survivalist Paul! Your are hard core breaking trails solo, you need Jrich or at least that kid with the front mullet :flipoff1:

Re: All teh stupid R belong to P !

OK... so I get ahold of JRich give him a brief summary of situation. Tractor stuck, buggy stuck, shouldnt take to much effort with 4wd and a strap. He laughs and says he's in. Obviously he's a no tow rig having jobless sum bitch so I gotta go get him ( which Im more than happy to do.. ) I head his way its approaching 10pm.

Get back to the scene of the crime unload the gay Taco and head down the path.

Wait , back up... let me provide a few more picks of buggy and my stupidness getting it stuck before I go on.....

Playin, having a good ol time...

Re: All teh stupid R belong to P !

Basically I couldnt get the drivers side to climb the bank I had dropped into and make the last little tight turn to get out of the runoff / small dry creek I was in. I killed the battery about 15ft from the main trial easy out.... Damn cheap ass battery although I really needed a light tug back ward to get out anyway...

Heres were it sat for several hours for the most part until we got to

Re: All teh stupid R belong to P !

Alright... back on track

JRich and I head into the woods... its O'dark thirty and things are going pretty smooth. BACK to the tractor...

Its on a VERY steep , very long decend to were the buggy is. No way to get around it, it will have to be recovered. We get to it and Jrich is already nay-sayin... I cant pull backwards on this hill Ill probably have to go back out and back down to it. We decide to give it a try anyway .

I've never driven this tractor, nor have I even laid eyes on its controls..... We fumble about a good bit, Jrich being redneck as **** has the controls figured out before I know it and I put the key in. Takes a minute to get all safety's figured out ( range box in neutral, shifter in neutral ) and finally it starts. OK lets try to tug er backwards off this laid down tree that rests longways under the frontend and rearend of said tractor.

Jrich, being the hardcore recovery specialist he is , attempts several times to "yank" the tractor off the tree while I spin the behemoth dirt relocators ( rear tires... ) the gay taco loves it... ( not really ) Everytime he yanks the rear wheels of the Taco come off the ground... by the third yank, JRich is getting brave and they are coming WAY off the ground and relocating them selfs to one side upon re-joining the ground... the strap breaks laughing1 Its always something in these situations... hell might as well ruin a strap right !

So......... this tractor, although we now have successfully gotten the rear end off the tree, is still making mad front suspension sex to the tree. ( ie... still hung up ) I can steer it and a couple of small attempts reveals two things.

1. This sucks
2. This sucks, its steep as ****, the tractor only wants to go down this hill not up....

JRich, being a seasoned vet in spotting tractors on technical terrain ( thats an attempt at humor... ) Begins telling me to turn full passenger and bump it... laughing1

Out of desperation, I follow his commands.. The tractor bucks a bit and the front slides down the tree as it had previously so I stop being cautious not to re-hang the rearend.

He spots me agian, with commands to go backward and counter steer ( makes since I do so... ) and to our amazement, the tractor aaaaaaaaaaaaalmost tries to edge over the tree backwards and we kinda have a shot at getting this thing un-stuck,

All movement stops, discussions are made.. Jrich points out the fact that " You only got one shot, you better throttle it up and commit son " laughing1 So Im sitting shakey legged as **** atop this tractor having no real clue on how to negotiate a tractor..

I take a moment to gather myself... Hmmm this pedal and that pedal are brakes, one rear left, one rear right got it.

This handle is throttle, these levers, I dont know what they do so I do not require them at this moment... I have lights on, and I am standing on the clutch currently. Tractor is happy to rest here against the tree, we need to make the tractor happyi to rest on the other side of this tree.........

This tree is large, obviously if its got a tractor attached to it... Id guess it was 35ft long and as big around as a 5gal barrel minimum. At first I eased the clutch out and the front started to roll the tree as the tractor continued to hump it... JRich screaming COMMIT the entire time. I throttle it up just a touch more and turn the frontend into the tree as much as possible and let the clutch out quickly trying to get the front drivers side tire over the tree... it works , but tree and tractor are still headed down hill at an uncomfortable angle... by this time JRich is laughing very loudly and still saying COMMIT !! I drop full out of the clutch and begin to attempt to steer over this tree... the front pops over and the rear drivers tractor goes up on the tree, pitching the tractor into an even more uncomfortable angle but still making progress while JRich continually laughs louder and louder... I think he said Oh **** a time or too as well and me , well I was near bail the **** out and let the tractor have at it ! laughing1

JRich is yelling go go go , and Im tryin to get straight pointed down the hill so as not to roll and die, things come around and next thing you know im tractor chuggin down the remainder of the hill . I go up the hill on the opposite end ( passing were the buggy rests.. ) and I park it and decide tractors are not for me.

Well.. I made it home..
So obviously I didn't die...lol

BTW.. P.. I lost my phone.. Is it in your Truck???
Hopefully I left it in the Taco. Gna check N see when I head to Bham...

Didnt notice it in my truck this morning... but with 4hrs sleep i was not really payin attention to much on the way in... laughing1

The tractor part was the most exciting.. and entertaining. Picture to idiots in the middle of the woods on a very steep and long hill wth a tractor stuck on a fallen tree. ( it was stuck enough the owner of said tractor wanted nothing to do with it and abandonded ship while talking about Chainsaws and daylight hahahha )

1. Using a small hand held flashlight learning what levers, pedals, switches, etc do what.

Then trying to drive the sum bitch out of this perdicament like i know what the hell im doing. skully Im glad me and tractor came out unscathed.

The buggy recover went MUUUUCH more smoothly. Basically we got JRich negotiated about to tug it backwards... it came back a few feet and was on a bank that was sure to roll it on its side ( it did ) We both decided, so what thats what its gonna take hopefully we can get it back on tires.

He went with it and stayed in momentum just a short 8ish feet the buggy hit the drivers side momentarily then the rear drivers caught a lip and it basically righted itself ! loller.gif finally we caught a break !!

We were in a tight spot as the buggy forced the Taco far enough off the trail it took a good bit of driving to get around the buggy... he did catch a nasty busted up tree in the pass tire/ fender and it broke the shaft on his front Bilstien shock :(

The buggy fired right up and barely puffed smoke once we put jumper cables on it... and we gathered our junk and headed out of the woods. ... First me with no lights.. it wasnt working so I pulled off a good bit and he went around me on the hill the tractor was stuck on.

We left the tractor parked down there. I get to go back for it after work. I pray Im not required to drive that sum bitch... I dont like tractors anymore. laughing1

Carl called me about 9pm as I was making a parts store run. My steering was apart and still is, so I could not be of any help. Sorry man.

I left you a message at home prior to then to call TK
