Not nearly as much fun as it usually is. Rodeo was kinda fun. Broadway was just the same as usual. However we went to Legends Bar and the band was so terrible I asked one of the bouncers who it was playing. Said Chris Schrader. So, me being the **** I am asked "when does he play here" and I was told "Monday and Saturday nights", I said "thanks, I will make sure to not come back on those days". The guy kinda just stared at me and I walked away.
This "band" was a some **** apparently named Chris who stood there, screaming at people to have fun and drink more, then literally took a persons drink and said "you can have it back when you learn to drink responsibly". I was standing up top watching this all so not sure what he/she did to piss the guy off but it worked. The best part was, the WHOLE time he held a guitar, and never played one note. He strummed it but didn't use his left hand at all. I can't play so I can't say too much, I I know I wouldn't stand in front of people and fake it. I also enjoyed that he used mother fawker more times in the 30 minutes I was there than I have used in the last 30 years. He was a ****.
OK, my rant is over. Next time we head down I plan for it to be to go wheeling and not to Broadway!!!! But, like most of you, my wife makes all those calls.
I am not a huge fan of Broadway either... We put the boat on the river Thursday night and docked off downtown so we could walk up and watch Cage The Elephant play at Live On The Green. There are just so many damn hipsters down there now that its almost annoying.
My wife has an old high school friend who lives near down town. So, she is kinda our tour guide...which is good and bad. We end up going where ever she likes to go. I like small local bands that play good country music where I can sit and listen and drink.
I will ask her about Midtown. Thanks for the info!!
MidTown is full of stuck up asshole college kids who parents have way too much money... I have a few small local bars that I will hit up on occasion (Fran's Eastside Bar in East Nasty is one of them)... I actually live in Hendersonville though so I don't get down that way too often because we have all of the marina bars here in town.
Our favorite bar when we go down is Big Shotz down on 2nd I think it is. You're downtown but it's more of a small town bar feel. We haven't seen a bad band they're yet. Cheapest beer we've found down there and they fly an Ohio flag.
