My girlfriends 98 Grand Laredo wont start. I took a look at it after work today and it has no spark. everything looks ok, at least what i could tell in the f#cking rain. Does anyone know of a common problem that these vehicles have. I herd of the security system messing up and not starting. any ideas?

What motor?
You can check the crank sensor. Pretty common problem.
With out more to go on its a crap shoot.

It has the 4.0L. The crank sensor only controls fuel injectors and spark advance.

A bad crank sensor will cause a no spark/no start on a 4.0L.

Unplug and re-plug it, sometimes the contacts on the crank sensor get gummed up and don't make a good connection... that's where I would start at least... it's a pretty common problem with the 4.0L

Sometimes people accidentally trigger the alarm system (low/dead battery will do that too or reaching through an open window to unlock the doors) If that's the case, locking then unlocking the doors with the key will reset it. (had at least 3 with this issue in the past couple months)

Thanks to all of you for your advice! It was the crank sensor.

:awesomework:

For curiosity's sake, did you replace it or did you simply clean the contacts on the plug? I actually replaced mine on my 4.0 before I even thought to clean the plug.
