Trying to find somewere to buy R-12 in the 'Ham. We used to get it from Berney Points but the number I have for them says disconnected.

Anyone have any leads local for this ? We have licensed tech's some aircraft still use the stuff.

HELP :dunno:

Don't think you will find any R-12 unless you find someone that has some laying around. It will have a price of gold if you do find it.
You can retrofit R-12 units to new types of refrigerant. The main one we use for medium temp is R-134. I have never worked on air planes but basically all you have to do is change the oil in the compressor. If it is a small system such as a car or small refrigeration system you don't even have to do that.
Also you have a refrigerant called Hot Shot. I have never personally used it but from what I have been told from reliable sources you just remove the R-12 and pull a vacuum and then recharge with this refrigerant.
You can get it at Johnstone Supply 251-3440 3801 1st Avenue North.
Just holla if I can help in anyway.

Thanks Kevin,

I called Holland and he told me about some company called Airon that is on Messer AP hwy so we will try that for now. Cheap ass plane owners and not wanting to retrofit there A/C ::) WTH

Call Tony Cousins. He was hording what he could get his hands on. I know he had a lot last year, unsure now.

Also, there is always R12 on eBay. But high prices, doh.

Been a good while since I bought some but we paid almost 1K for a 50lb one last time ! laughing1

I totally understand they just do not realize it would probably be cheaper(especially in the long run) to retrofit. I have to admit you take a 50/50 chance it will not cool as good once retrofitted though.
Good Luck
