Found a pretty good deal on a 3.0 Atlas II. Im running 6.0 LQ4, TH400, Rocks and 47's. My first gear would be 50 to 1.

I wheel mostly in Clayton so I do need some low range. My Ftoy was 90 to 1 with a 5 speed and it was just about right for Clayton....could have been a c-hair lower to be honest.

Unless the 6.0 is really puttin out I would suggest a 3.8 Atlas

I run a 3.0 with 6.17 gears and it is just about right for me but I have 44's

Well I really want a 5.44 4speed but found this one at a good price. If this tcase aint gonna work I will probably go right for the 4 speed.

Although that 3.8 would give me a 63 to 1 in first and 37 to 1 in second.....sounds fun bumpin up the gears.

It has 1350 yokes on it though. He said he would take $1650 for it...its got 15 miles on it. I think he might come down allittle more. I can get 1410 yokes for $126 a the most through Atlas.

It seems a little high for 47" tires. I would also try and find a 3.8. Just my .02 worth. Like JAB said if the 6.0 is really puttin it out, it may be fine.

Most rigs in this part of the world run 45 to 1 all the way trough 50 to 1 ratios with automatics and 44" tires or smaller. But then again almost everybody I have seen will run 47's for a while, then go back to 44's, so it may be just right! ;D

6.0 is stock for now. L92 heads and L76 intake down the road aways. Probably way down the road. So you guys think the 3.8 would be enough for Clayton?

I am running 5.13's, TH-400, and 3.8 on 44's = 49.12 in low but I put it in drive and leave it alone. I have enough motor to do that. It is dang close to perfect but at times it seems a little to low but for my style it never needs more gear. I have a good friend who runs 4.11's, TH-400, and 4.3 on 44's = 44.54. His has a bad ass 6.0 and it is unbelievable. He also runs in drive all the time. Another friend runs 5.13's, Meritor automatic( it is in back of a stock 5.7 Hemi), and 300 with 4to1 on 42's= 55.81. He loves it but he is more into finesse than point and shoot. He will sometimes have to pull it down in 3rd to make it hold and not shift out. What I am trying to say is, it really depends how much your rig weighs and your driving style. Personally, I would not spend the extra coin on the 4-speed. Most never use it.

P.S. I also have one other friend who runs 6.72's, TH-400, and 205 with 3 to 1's on 47" tires. He also has a bad ass 6.0 and Overson axles and breaks more crap than you can haul to a scrap yard.

Hope this helps! ;D

I agree think the 4 speed is a waist of money - buy the 3.8 and hold that bitch :woot:

Im running 4.56's and a 4.3 -1 and a 350 fuel injected and it was just fine back this spring when i was at Disney ..

just curious what kinda stuff is he breakin???

Well the buggy itself will be light, but then add Rockwells and 47's witha V8/TH400 and the weight factor goes up quick. Im guessing around 4500-5000 lbs. I like to point and shoot but alot of times in Clayton you have to finesse yourself around....if nothing else Im having to ride behind my buddy that is creepin around in his 220 to 1 Toyota....!! :driving:

The friend of mine that I talking about is on this site occasionally and he may chime in but, before the Oversons he broke like three or four axles and the transmission in three or four rides. After the Oversons I think he has broken the transfer case (205 with 3.1 kit) and one axle if I am not mistaken. This does not seem that unusual but he does not ride all that much.

If you are talking about Lance, I don't think he has ever broke an Ouverson Axle. I don't know anyone who has broken one. Maybe the stock ujoints, but not the axle.

10-4 you are probably right. It may have been the joint. But he sure can break some parts :****:.

WOW! Im sure the first time I take mine out I will break every axle shaft in it then have to park it for 6 months to save up for Oversons. Are those shafts lifetime warranty?

What is the Atlas warranty like? :woot:
