I just picked up a complete Chevy 350 from Shane on Sunday.

Thanks bud! :awesomework: I had to completely disassemble it for two reasons, 1. I couldn't get it off my truck (too heavy and no lift... :booo: ) and 2. it needed to be taken apart anyways. It has a spun bearing on the #6 (?) cylinder. Worst I've ever seen.

It's a four bolt and I plan to have it cleaned and Magnafluxed before I start throwing money at it.

The plan is to build it right and really strong (hp), but not so much that I will need to spend tons of money on everything else just to run it. You know? :redneck: I'm thinking around 400-500 hp. It's not hard. I was thinking a 383 stroker... Eh, eh?

I've been looking at the stroker kits at www.strokerkits.com and was wondering what you would use the different stages of strength and weight for. I've been somewhat following the propane threads and I'm thinking I want to do that eventually. I will run high octane for the time being, it's better for the engine for the break in anyways. But, can you get that kind of hp from propane? Do you need to run a blower/turbo? Maybe eventually EFI the whole thing and run propane anyways? That's way down the road, though. Lots of $$$$ needed.

I want to sell my running gear and go with whatever tranny came behind it. Which one was it Shane? (It has a 4.8** granny 1st) And the 203/205 doubler. I'm thinking 4.88s for gearing w/ 38" (max) tires. And a 2.5" body lift to compensate the tires? I rub w/ 33s, rears up front, 6 1/4" shackles, and 1.5" drop hanger. Eventually, stock 93' YJ springs up front. What add a leaf should I go with for all the added weight?

With that said...what do you suppose I could get for a recently rebuilt 22re ( w/receipts), tranny, and 4.7 geared transfer case? What about the axles? They're pretty much stock other than added trusses, knuckle ball kit

, 1/4" front diff armor
diffarm-large-600.jpg
, 10 mm drain plugs, V6 calipers
caliperms6.jpg
, 1.5" wheel spacers, and vented rotors?

Would I need to sell my high steer kit from TG in order to run other axles? What axles would be recommended? Lemme guess.....60s??? :corn: :haha:

I was thinking that or 9".... :corn:

BTW, for those of you who don't know...

I drive this...

'85 Yota long flat bed. Several mods.... http://www.the4x4network.com/forum/garage.php?mode=view_vehicle&CID=37

I'm waiting to hear back about my reservations for my outside booth for the upcoming swap meet in Puyallup. I thought about selling it all then and working from there being that the event is right around the corner... :stirpot:

Please no BS, people. I'm just looking for some guidance. Thank you for your time to read my post. I had difficulties using the search link. It probably works fine, but I'm a little retarded in that field. hehe :D

Pictures are worth a thousand words, BTW. :awesomework:

first off good luck with the 4-500hp natuarally aspirated.. let alone wheelin it at 8000rpm

next your looking at dumping 8k into it to see that kind of power .. especially with propane..

honestly STOP.. sell your $75 dollar core you have there and get a LS1 or LS2

fuel injected 375-425hp stock.. at a reasonable RPM they go for about $3500 for a warrenty used one with 50-70k miles on them..all aluminum and a good worthy engine.. contact S&N for help with this they know alot about them

you wont regreat this advise...

Don't mind the second picture (one on right). Here's what it had to say about that chart...

your dreamin if you think its that easy.. but good luck I've built many

my propane kit to flow 1000cfm cost just over $2000..

just trying to help ya,

fitment is as easy as a standard 350 in a yota.. not to mention the badassness of one

Ok, so I'll stay with pump gas then.

Maybe eventually an LS1, but I like the idea of a 350 for now.

Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate anything you have to share. :awesomework:

cool..

loose the holley idea, quadrapuke if anything you will have better luck. even the avenger sucks azz

you know a good running 194 head with 10 to 1 comp roller tip rockers and a 280 hyd cam is a great setup with that $350 dollar propane setup

Why do you need that much Horsepower. Unless you are like myself cursed with a small penis , You really dont need more than 300HP. The othher thing you have to look at on the dyno chart is whats your low end horsepower. Looks like at 2500RPMs your at about 180hp. The chart on the right is more realistic for a 383 with 9.5:1 compression. The one I built years back was 12:1 and 445hp 492trq.

I guess if your crawl ratio is 400:1 then you can run at 6000 rpms to get your Horsepower. :haha:

Just for the fun of doing it/having it. Plus I can use it in a buggie or something custom built later on down the road, but I guess I could always go another route. Change the engine again or go with a LS1 or something.

Anyways, I'm still liking the propane idea, though. So, lets talk about this...

I sent you two PMs. ^^^

I want to know what you were thinking as far as my stuff for your axles.... :haha:

It's possible to run those with Chevy running gear right?

if your talking about the 14bolt it is chevy so it should work with other chevy stuff just fine. and i think your #s are easily reached but for a 4x4 i would build for torque not h.p. and propane should give you the same performance as gas you will just have to plan ahead more it can be hard to find propane out in the boonies just my .02
