I just got a weld pack 3200 and I cannot get the wire to spool. The motor wont even feed the wire is there a reason for this>? is there something I need to do before it will feed or will it only feed when im welding?? I have never welded before.

Im not sure exactly what the deal is, but if the machine is operating correctly, you should be able to spool wire any time by pressing the trigger on the gun.

What is the wire speed set at? Open the door and check to see if the drive rollers are turning. You should see the bottom roller with the groove in it turning when you press the trigger. If the drive rollers go and the wire doesnt spool, you could have a couple things going on.

Feed the wire by hand all the way out of the gun. If you can feed it through easily thats good and means there istn't a problem with the gun or cable. Next check the tension on the roller that presses the wire into the drive roller. If its loose the drive roller wont get traction on the wire and it will spin out. The other thing to check is that the nut isn't putting too much drag on roll of wire.

The drive roller is not turning. It does not move at all.. Is there some internal fuse or circuit breaker to pop?

Make sure the wire speed is turned up. Had the same problem with a friends Miller, turns out if the wire speed is at zero, the motor doesn't turn :D

ALSO LOOK AT THE AMP SETTING. ON MINE IT HAS TO BE CLICKED INTO POSITION FOR ANYTHING TO WORK darn caps sorry. if its between 3 and 4 instead of on three or four.

maybe

Mine has an adjustment to tighten the feed roller as do most i believe . If your new to welding it could even be something that simple. Just turn the little knob above where the wire goes in. Ive also bought my share of broken welders. Thats right nib garbage. It happens so don't rule it out.

Yeah I did all that and nothing worked. it just makes a clicking sound when I pull the trigger.. like a high amp switch going off and on sound. I am going to try and find a place that techs and see if they would know.
