1000 Watts RMS is not very much at all, 0 gauge would be over kill but to be safe you would be best to do this. 4 gauge would even work just fine.

My sub is supposed to have 2000 watts minimum to operate so i run a 2000 watt RMS soundstream amp to power my orion h2 2 ohm sub.

how many ohms are your sub? also how are you going to wire it? because depending on how you wire it will determine how much power your actually running.

Is your amp 0 OHM stable, 1 ohm, 2 ohm, ect???

I run 4 gauge wire to my soundstream 2000 watt rms amplifier with no cap or dist. block. I had it in my dodge dakota but now its in my honda civic HB with stock alternator, lights dim when i turn it up real loud but has worked fine for long time.

But i would def. get a cap so to take some strain off your alternator & then you should nto have problem with lights dimming or anything like that.
