just got my father-in-laws YJ with my old 31" LTBs on it, no lift. I am total newbie to this leaf spring stuff. thinkin of just gettin 1" longer shackels and trimming whatever get in way. should i just get the basic kit, or look more into those boomerang ones?
It drives supprisingly nice on pavement right now, wouldnt mind keeping it that way, since i will let him drive it when they come over.
was thinking of taking out the rear trac bar and front swaybar also.

I've got 5/8th booms front and rear and like them. For a little more clearance without changing the handeling you could go for a 1" body lift. The nice thing about either the booms or the body lift is that they will useful for with future upgrades.

Cheers

I've got a set of boomerang shackles, and some teraflex revolver shackles if your interested.

But for better suspension, remove the track bar, front and rear and the sway bar up front. You dont need them.

 hunkajunk
body lift wouldnt be bad, was wanting to boost the frame a hair if possible though.
im gonna hafta dig for some pics of rigs with the booms.

Dam Joop! just scrolled through those pictures, looks great.
looks like the boomerang style shackles provide more droop?
wonder if my shocks will be long enough.

I did some minor adjustments to help the leafs flex. First I repacked all the leafs with grease on the plastic pads, then I unbolted the c-clamp. Yeh the boomerang shackles seem liked they help. But when I did my life the shackles were part of it. Now it's linked up front and flexes pretty damn well, and rides like a caddy up front. I need to do some minor adjustments to my rear leafs for a softer ride.

^roger that.
sounds like they are more of an uptravel thing, and can prevent the front leafs from inverting also.
found some good deals on e-bay. still not sure if they have any use in back over some straight ones though. gotta flex it out and see. she wouldnt even climb my car ramps, LOL, so ive started unbolting some stuff:redneck:
a locker is def. needed. not sure whether to just spool the rear or put in my beloved front locker.

Straight shackles in front, boomerangs in the rear with the "knee" pointing forward. At least thats how my Rubicon Express kit works.

Get some RE1445 rear springs and RE1444 front springs (1.5 lift)
get the boomerang shackles front and rear (.5 lift)
remove the track bars
Leave the swaybar but get a quick disconnect.
and you will need a longer shock front and rear.

then you will be all set for a spring over someday.

x2 on the re springs:awesomework:
a buddy just put them on his yj and its way better than any other leaf he has tried

I have the RE springs on my CJ in spring over, they ride nice after they break in. Old Man Emu ride much better, my daughters jeep has them with ome shocks, it rides sweet. :awesomework: She does not have a sway bar but runs both track bars, it flexes very well off road.

BDS springs arnt half bad. I kept breaking RE springs so I'm trying BDS ones with a mil wrap until I get my air shocks
