This past weekend the rear output quit pulling only in low range, it works great in high range, and the front output works great high and low range. The 205 is twin sticked, so it's isolated to only the rear output. Has this happened to anyone else or has anyone else come across this and what was your fix. I'm trying to do my homework before I pull it out........

Thanks

Are you sure it's engaging fully? Not to ask being a smartass. I had something like that happen and I had screwed up my intermediate shaft sorry but you prob gonna have to open her up

Re:

I'm planning on dropping and opening it up tomorrow night. When I shift the rear output to low range, I can feel and hear the chattering like it wants to engage but just won't. I also noticed the collar on the shift Rod is all the way up to the case so it can't travel anymore. I was told by someone that it could be as simple as a broken snap ring allowing the low range gear to walk back and forth and not engaging......

It could be keep us updated and let us know. If the collars all the way in the rail is fully engaged so something's not jivin good luck bud

I just twin sticked my np205 so its fresh in my head. If the collar is up against the housing i would say thats the 1st place to look at. Maybe the collar has play in it not allowing the rear to enter low range. The snap rings in my 205 are not gonna break anytime soon. I cant see a snap ring coming lose in the 205.

My 1st thought would be that the input shaft has finally wore down to the point that the rear will not engauge in low.

1. check collar for play
2. drain oil and check for chunks
3. pull input shaft and check.

Re:

I got the trans/t-case dropped last night and when I pulled the drain plug I found 2 pieces. Pieces of what may be a shim or snap ring , so when I get a chance in the next day or so I'll open the case up

Re:

I pulled the rear output housing apart tonight and found the rear low range support bearing broken and the snap ring on the rear output housing bearing damaged..... So looks like I'm in search of some bearings now

Hey tony,

Are you trying to make Harlan with those guys this weekend? There is a 205 here at the shop you can get parts out of or probably just bolt in for the weekend!

Re:

No I won't make it, I gotta work this weekend....... I'm working on finding parts now, I've found the bearing/rebuild kit but the snap rings come in a separate kit
