Does anyone have a step by step rebuild or build instructions for a Np 435 trans? All i have is an exploded parts view to go off of right now, thanx

i have like a 26 page PDF of the original GM repair manual for the truck NP435 printed back in September of 1978...

When I get home I can upload it to one of my websites and post up a link if ya want...

it gives pretty much every detail I think you might need... hopefully.. haha

OK.. as I mentioned earlier...

Here is a link to the repair manual that has every step from disassembly to assembly for the New Process 435 Transmission.

Since I have the space on one of my sites I am working on, here is the link to download it..

oh yeah, it is in .PDF format, so make sure you have the reader.

it is about 8MB in file size.

hope it helps. :awesomework:

That is a very nice piece of tech info zoediak. Mind if I add it to my databases?

Thank you much. I see we share the same interest in data collection, I have literally stack by stack of service manuals that I am working on copying to PDF form its a slow process but it will pay off. I bought service manuals from a lot of dealerships that went under now the garage is half full lol.

Mounting patterns for the bellhousing and t case. Input bearing is tapered on the Ford and the Chevrolet is ball. Otherwise the same internally.
Hope that helped

I would have to say that it would be the bell housing.

I used that guide to rebuild a ford NP435 that i used to have and didn't have any troubles with it at all..

I mean when you really get into it, the guts are the guts, and they go in and come out the same, regardless of what vehicle it was mounted in.

all i basically need to do is take the top shaft and gears out to put my short shaft to dana 20 adaptor on so its not as involved as a total rebuild

oh.. yeah what he said.. haha but that manual covers both bearing types.

anyway.. here are a couple of dana axle manuals i have too if anyone is interested...

i have a bunch of them floating around, just trying to dig them all up off of my server archives takes a while when I don't use them as much.

yeah I just got finished rebuilding my dana 300 and put in a set of tera 4:1 gears in it...

now I am starting to rebuild my SM420 to go in front, the tranny really doesn't need it, but I figure might as well do it right so I don't have to do it later. :;

thats ok im kind of enjoying it, i dont get to do gear work that often, diesel engines in kenworth dump and mixers tie up most of my time at work so a little gear work at home is kinda nice, plus no one is breathing down my neck to get it done. I almost have the new trans back together ...not as bad as i thought it was gonna be

Clean bench and disassemble in orderly fashion I rather enjoy that too. Got a 727 on the bench now, manual vb, stacked the clutch plates tight, billet input. Goin behind a 426 wedge.

Always preferred the wedge over the hemi. Better all around performance and you dont have to wind the **** out of it to get what you want.
