np205 input swap

I understand it is the 32 spline shaft, bearing. I think there are some good articles here and there (google). Maybe it was Petersens that did an article describing the process. Not too long ago either.

I am going to assume the inner dia. of the input bearing must be larger for the 32 spline shaft? I wouldn't think the case would be different/outer bearing dia.

I remember seeing photo's of someone boring out the case for the larger diameter bearing. It might be bigger all the way around.

The case is most certainly too small.

From www.offroaddesign.com

NP205 input conversion Kit:
Convert your male input NP205 to a TH400 version 32 spline short female input gear. Kit includes new input gear, input bearing and a seal and gasket kit. Requires machine work on the NP205 case to install, the input bearing bore must be enlarged by about 3/8" compared to the small bearing. Gear, bearing, and seal and gasket kit also sold separately.
#GU4033 Price - $190.00

Money!

in fact, it is Mike....

we did this to hugh's....

though....I honestly can't remember if its the input or the front output (or both) that needed to be machined for the bigger bearing. (cuz we swapped his to the 32spl input, and 32 spline ford front output...)

it's super-easy to do....only have to open it up.....maybe .125"

tHATS just odd bernie--you wouldn't think they would make 2 different cases...

The didn't make 2 different cases, they just machined a larger bearing bore for the larger inputs.

I gotta dig up a breakdown for a 205--for some reason I must be drawing a blank on where the input bearing sits....

The input bearing is just one variable, there are many different cases. 6 or 8 bolt pattern or divorced. Ford, Chev, Dodge..................
It's just the input bearing that needs the machine work, both outputs are a easy bolt on swap/ mod. The bearing I was talking about earlier if it does exist would be the correct ID to fit the 32 spline shaft with the correct OD to fit the small bearing case. I haven't heard anything of this part in years so maybe it's just a pipe dream.
