So, I'm still get a pretty bad vibration after having my driveline redone (for free) It's a rythmic Whirring sound at about 45-55mph in 3rd gear (700r4) then when i put it into 4th gear it goes away considerably, but you can still hear/feel it. I don't know what it could be, the transmission was jsut rebuilt/fixed recently, the np203 hasn't been rebuilt to my knowledge and the np205 was supposedly rebuilt...So, when i pwent to pull the t-case, I could move the rear t-case output quite a bit up and down (with the driveline as leverage, and not as much when i took it off. and in and out slightly. but I'm jsut wondering if there is an adjustment that needs/needed to be made to the rear output shaft. There is a caged needle bearing that i thought i replaced one of the times i pulled it apart to fix this issue.

Talking with my dad he took his to snohomish transmision and they adjusted the rear output with a washer, i've never heard of asjusting these t-cases, but then again i've never fully rebuilt one...:eeek:

When it's assembled I can feel slop in this bearing, but i can also still slide the shaft back and forth some

The larger gear can slide back and forth quite a bit along with tilting the gear a little, not sure if the needle bearings in behind it are shot.....

REALLY REALLY long story short, should I jsut get a full rebuild kit and start form there, or try and adjust the output shaft and replace that caged needle bearing.

I'm just at a complete loss as to why I'm still getting a vibration, the rearend 3rd has been rebuilt, the transmission has been rebuilt, the driveline has been rebuilt and balanced. I'm thinking these t-cases are the problem, but i don't know where to start. I mean, before I had an np231 in and a two-piece driveline, same rearend and did not get these vibrations, put the np203 /np205 setup in and now it's howling at 50mph. :booo: frustrating.

Send a PM to Crazy Daze hes the 205 guy around here:awesomework:

I would bet anything you have a driveshaft angle issue. On the 205 the first thing I would do is retorque the yoke nut and see if it takes away the play you describe.

The driveline angles i think are good, i actually put shims in a month ago to fix the pinion angle, the only other angle i could see causing the problem is the side to side offset of the 9" pinion and the t-case flange. (I just hope it's nothing more with the driveline angles!) i'll double check it.

Edit: but thinking about that, it shoulda be vibrating the same with the np231 and two-peice driveline i had, as the 9" rear was in there at that time also, so it woulda had that slight offset....and it didn't do this...:eeek:

Anyone have experience rebuilding these t-cases? any scret adjustments? you;d think with as common as they are someone would know! :booo:
