Alrighty here is the deal. I am currently running a NP435 in this rig that I traded for but would like to go to an automatic. The reason is my knees are very much ****ed up from getting hit from 2 155mm rounds underneath my HUMVEE while in Iraq. I say that just so you know that I am not just some fat **** who is lazy. Well I guess I am but my knees still hurt damn it.

Anyways here are the specs- 76 Bronco, 351W on propane, NP435, NP205, HP 60 Front and Tru HI 9 rear, 5,38 gears locked front and rear. 37" Blue Labels but hope to go to at least to 40" in the future

I know that I would lose a **** of crawl ratio if I went swapped out just the transmissions so I was considering adding in the Behemoth Strong Box to go along with it. It seems that with the difference in overall lengths of transmissions I will lose 8" and another 7" to 8.25" with the strong box on my rear driveshaft.
I am coming up with like 141:1 with this setup if you double your first gear due to the torque converter. If my math is wrong then someone let me know.

It looks like I will be dropping about 1k on the swap, I do not see another alternative without spending a lot more money.

Does anyone have this setup and is it worth the swap? :dunno:

I think u should try just the auto first Whats your wheelbase those EB r short rear driveshaft will b short

I agree. Try it first. That is the trans, transfer and axle ratio I am running. I have a decent 460 with a good bit of torque so that helps. There have been times when I wanted a lower low. Picking the right stall converter will help.

I wouldn't take anything in the world for the experiences and friendships I gained while being over there.

So if I have read corrrectly you should double your 1st gear ratio whith an auto because of your torque converter. If this is true then without a strong box my crawl ratio would be 51.88. Is that deep enough to take on places like Clayton?
