What would you use and why? We kinda had a talk this weekend about what would be best. I'm personally wanting another air compressor setup like from Viair or similar.:corn: I just don't know what to get. I want it to be able to fill 35" tires at a decent speed, I got kinda spoiled with the A/C pump on the S-10 being super fast.

PM Super Samuria, I bought one of his set ups for a $100 and it works great. Way cheaper then buying a PowerTank set up. And refilling the tank is right around $20 for my 20lb tank (resturant style tank) last time I checked.

They both have advantages but I prefer the OBA. I have been using a york comp. with a storage tank for years and had very few problems. I like the idea of not running out of air (downside of a bottle)

The easy winner in this debate is to have both of them. I have had a CO2 setup from brian for about a year and it works great but yes it runs out and never near a filling station or when you don't need it anymore. :haha:

I have a few yorks and all the stuff for oba on the yota and on the tow rig. You just can't beat an engine driven compressor in the long run. :D

Jim makes a good point. But I've filled 5 of my 35" tires and it didn't even make a noticable difference in pressure on the gauge. Ofcourse I'm sure if I were to run a cut-off wheel or something off it, it may go a little faster.

Maybe someone who's had their tank more then a month can give better info....

Jet tanks are cool, If I was to get a air system I would get a tank. They are fast and last a long time. A buddy of mine has 2 and he uses it for his 42" and 49" tires about every weekend and he says one tank will last him about 6 months and he has 3 buggys. If your pump goes out = no air.. anything mechanical will break some day, and tank is a sure thing. I have even seen an ARB guy use a tank to lock his locker cause his pump took a chit. Thats my .02, I am saving for a tank.

If you get a tank make sure it doesnt get hot. MarcW and i know why.

co2 Tank (from Brian) with electric backup :awesomework:

blow a burst disk huh, and waste a full tank?

Oh holy fawk yeah we did. After hauling ass(as much ass as my old rig could) accross the desert to the end of aftershock. We were going about 30 cruising along and i thought we blew up something in the drivetrain. It was a overcast day, The rad fan was on(but not pointed at it). Ive been in hotter conditions. That fawker was LOUD. Where can i get a new one?

should be able to get one at a welding supply store, air gas i know has them. but i recomend exchanging them somwhere other than where you get the disk, as they will want to do a visual on it and charge ya. nothing wrong with it some times it happens, i had a scuba tank do it to me and it had a pressure of 3,300 psi, so i know how loud it is for sure, amazed it wasnt sitting in the sun, thats when that ussually happens.

I have OBA on my fj40 and a co2 tank for back up.I have wondered about a tank getting hot and blowing something up. got any cool pics of it??

the tank didn't blow up!!! there is a burst disk on the valve that blows out and is only replacable,pre-set for a certain psi. tank is still good.

joe i have a few if you can't find a new one, let me know.

Im in no rush. Wanna mail me one or drop by if your ever in Monroe?

Everything is breakable.

I have had a ViAir compressor going on 5 years now. It never fails to do its job.

I've been the air bitch after many a trail run leaving it on for more than an hour and it has done great.

I don't see the advantage of a powertank unless you want a backup.

oba is great also! but on my buggy i have no room for all the stuff for oba, i run a 10lb tank on it, and co2 can deliver 160psi, which most or no oba can. and you can take the co2 to a broken rig rather than try and get the rig to it.

I fail to see where an electric compressor is larger than a 10LB tank.

I do have a small 5lb tank on my compressor to deliver a large burst of air for a bit at 150psi. But even so, OBA is there, the tank can run out.

C02 tanks aren't for me.
