So for a while now only on rare occasions on hard left turns or in parking lots "only" on hot days I got a wierd rotational buzz type noise (rather loud). Every time it sounded JUST like it was from the left side. There was no abnormal bearing noise from the front and both hub bearings were tight.

Yesterday at the home depot parking lot I was loading heavy stuff into the back of the rig and I could slighly hear the same tone(something you become acustom to doing automotive repair) when the rig moved back/forth. So I went up front and push the tires back/forth and damn its coming from the right side. When I did it I could slightly push on the backing plate and the noise would go away.

So this morning here at work I pulled the caliper/rotor and can see a rub mark on the backing plate from the inner most inside edge of the rotor. Apon inspection it looks like rust has buiolt up/caused the inner edge to expand and touch the backing plate. Its very common to see this type of rust on the 99- pickups and 2000-tahoes suburbans--has something to do with the new material they use to make the rotors.

Anybody else see this on there dodges on the rotors?

for some reason I can't keep a tight bearing on my right side. I replaced it about 1.5 years ago, but the other day I put new tires on it and the right front has some minor play in it. :booo:

I had the same thing happen to me on the drivers rear rotor ( late 01 dodge). I tore it apart expecting to do rear brakes but just needed to be cleaned up.

The rotors on my dad's 04 get some serious rust scale build up on them...Chip it away with a screwdriver and lighten the rig by a few pounds it seems like...

i have seen the front rotors on dodges get so much rust we had to beat them off with sledge hammers. just chip it away and take the rotor off and clean the "top-hat" area.
