So if a gallon of fuel costs me $4.04 a gallon right now and the gov't gets their $0.80, and the gas station gets their $0.07 (Friend that owns a chain of gas stations told me this is how much he makes, not sure how true), we'll figure in some misc expense of delivery or something like that to be around $1.00, how much does the oil company get? A hell of a lot more than anybody else. And the numbers are there to prove it. With increases like that in revenue (not profit) and the small little tiny increase in production show me that somebody is making a shiat load of money! There is a gas station here in town now that is selling biodiesel and it costs more than regular diesel. WTF!

Not too long ago (couple of weeks) They (not sure who "they" are exactly) asked OPEC to up the production of crude oil. OPEC responded NO! You know what happened two hours later? Fuel went up $.015 a gallon. Why? Dunno. At the time there were no major storms, no refineries shut down (like the one in texas, that was a week later), everthing was aight so to say. Why did they raise fuel prices then?

I just reread this and it sounds like I'm really pissed off about it. I'm not, just trying to inform you guys if you didn't know already.

People shouldn't be mad at the oil companies for having a successful business. It's supply and demand. The supply is higher than ever and the dems are cutting our throats by not letting us drill and refine our own gas. Exxon payed over 42% of their GROSS revenue in taxes to the government. The $.80 I spoke about were Federal taxes only, there are state taxes and others that the government come up with to take all of our and the oil companies money. The oil companies had record profits last year and the dems call for higher taxes for them (their already paying 42%+) since they "made so much money". The dems also had record tax revenue last year, I don't hear them saying they will cut our taxes since they had record tax revenue.

The combined profits of $17 billion read that word profits that is after the gov takes the $.80 a gal.i do not care what you say the oil companies are ****ing us if the gov did not take .80 a gal then we would pay more taxes if you have profits of $17billion the you can afford to pay taxes. if we get rid of pres bush i think it will help he is a oil man and he is greedy to

The other problem I see is that all of the big oil companies are in bed with each other. How can you have a competitive market when Chevron and Texaco are one in the same, Amaco and BP, Conoco and Phillips 66 are all together.

I hate the taxes and executive bonuses etc...etc..... BUT...I do agree with alot of the experts that say none of that really matters. The deal now is that it's a global market......a few years ago there were just a few buyers at the table bargaining over the oil.....now there are many and the main one being China with a huge population that is just beginning to taste the luxeries that we've been taking for granted. Every single barrel of oil that hits the market is basically being auctioned and for every one of those barrels that we refuse to pay these crazy prices for the Chinese are more than happy to snatch up. The world is changing rapidly folks and it's going to be a wild ride.

One other point worth mentioning....everyone talks about drilling our own soil. Don't think for a moment that all the oil drilled in this country would stay in this country. The oil companies are global and they put the goods on the global market. I've never thought for a moment that all the oil flowing down the Alaskan Pipeline and loaded on supertankers stays in America. It goes to the highest bidder. I guess our government could try to regulate and control the shipment of oil but they can't even seem to find Bin Laden or control New Orleans.

That is correct. Very little oil we drill in this country stays here. We use it as a trading tool. My dad works for a large drilling contractor. They work for Shell, BP, etc. I can tell you the production costs are very high and there are a lot of people that have to be paid in the chain of production. I still say the only way to stop it is to quit trading it on wall street like a commodity.

Ha, ****ers, I was out of pocket, and you knew I couldn't defend myself and still got drug in.

Yes I trade energy, but it is electricity. Fawk you dont want me to have to explain that, it cornfuses me sometimes as well.

If I started typing on this subject of high gas, and high oil, etc.. you would get bored and stop reading about .....now.

Its a world market, everyone is competeing for the same oil & food. Additionally the US Dollar has tubbled to a level that has forced the price of oil & food up. But that is just the inflationary factor of all of this. But whats driving inflation? The products that are transported with the fuel, namely food. ****ing cyclical huh?

As for gas in Europe. I saw $1.45 euro a liter, which is approx $8.35 USD a gallon. So I'd say we still have a ways to go. Have you guys seen the size of cars in the EU? Nolen's side by side is bigger than most of them. And I've taken to the Smart cars, might have to look into one. It will fit in the bed of my shortbed Chevy to haul around.

My solution, bring more capacity online, decrease demand, and kill all of China, and India, and we will be set. loller.gif
