I am still trying to troubleshoot an oil leak on my zz4 crate motor in my 87 suburban. Two questions:
First:
I plugged the upper oil port on the block eliminating the oil switch. I still have an oil sending unit located on a port near the oil filter. Is the oil switch necessary if I have the oil sending unit working properly? Does the ECM interpret the switch and what does it do with that information?
Second:
If I suspect the oil leak to be the rear intake manifold valley (where it meets the head) and for which i have replaced 2 already or I suspect a leak out of the drivers side head gasket. What would be recommended for a path to repair?
Open valve covers then re-torque head bolts if that doesn't work replace intake manifold gasket (again) then if that doesn't work full head gasket replacement?
Any thoughts on a plan of approach would be great....
