The 700r4 in my 89 Sblazer is making noise. its coming from the torqe converter area. Sounds like loose change in the dryer when you put it in gear and load the tranny. The rig drives fine and the tranny shifts good but I think something in the stator took a **** and is bouncing around.

I haven't tore into it yet but I figured I would pick your brains.

:corn:

I agree on the Flexplate. I was backing out of doctortudbos driveway (steep) then dropped it into first and hammered it once I hit the street.:beer:

I love these trucks but hate working on them when it comes to engine/tranny removal.

The funny thing about it is a buddy called me a few hours earlier with a $500 Sblazer that his grandpa was too old to drive.

Flex plate is broke. Good news is I got the new blazer for free. :cheer:

I'm going to fix the other one, do a SAS and make it my street legal trail/hunting rig :redneck:

Crash whats the trick to changing the flexplate without pulling the tranny/case all the way out? I was thinking unbolting body mounts, jacking up the body, and pulling the trans back enough to get clearance to work on it. :corn:

easy..

Pull all of bellhousing bolts(and torgue converter). Get some long 3/8 bolts(starter bolts work perfect) and screw one into each side of the bellhousing. Jack up the tranny and pull the t-case mount and slide the whole works back :redneck: It can be pretty tight and if you have a zero offset wrench you can get the flexplate bolts pretty easy...

You just need to unbolt everything and slide it back 2".

Thanks guys :beer: :beer::beer::beer:

The funny thing about this whole thing is I had a 91 ext cab, a friend calls me and says he found a Sblazer for cheap, 2 days later my 91 gets totalled so I buy the blazer, drive it for two years then yesterday I get a call about another Sblazer for cheap. 2 hours later the flexplate scatters and I pick up this blazer today by trading for setting up some gears. funny how this **** always seems to work out. Gotta love the good Ol' boy system :haha:
