Found two trucks:

98 Crew Cab Chevy Dually white 146k miles
88 Crew Cab Chevy Dually red 86k miles

Both trucks have 454 and auto. Both are two wheel drive and lowered. This will be a tow pig and only get driven a few hundred miles a month. I am torn between a newer truck with a Vortec that can get good gas mileage and a cooler old truck with poor gas mileage but tons of coolness. Coolness is In my opinion. What do you uns say?

Yea about 8-10mpg is best your going to get out of either truck no matter what you do. I've owned both kinda trucks and the newer truck having the OD trans and fuel injection does help going on longer trips but no cool factor. The squarebody still rides and drives great but no OD trans hurts them a good bit if your wanting to drag a trailer at decent interstate speeds.

Any cost savings on the initial purchase? That may offset the difference in mpg. But then again, I'd drive what I want to and considering it's not a dd, get what you want.

Buy them both then sell them and get you a Cummins powered unit.

Jk. I'd go with the newer we all know how stuff gets from sitting and it obvious the older truck has sat alot since it has lower miles(unless the mileage isn't true). Not to mention the body style looks better on the newer one
