I have a multi-cutter blade that needs sharpening. When I lived in GA there were local places that did this. Since I moved to FL I haven't been able to find anyone.

If you're not aware of what a multi-cutter blade is, they look similar to this:

Each tooth has a carbide tip that is brazed on, can be sharpened, and replaced. These blades are special blades, not meant to be replaced, very expensive. They are used in special chop-saws that spin slower than normal saws. They are really nice because they last so long between sharpening and don't wear / need to be replaced.

Does anyone know of an online service or something that I can ship my blade to, have it sharpened, and shipped back? There just isn't anywhere local. I found some via Google but some of the websites look a little sketch.

Scratch that. Just got a good look at mine. Its missing so many teeth that I'll probably be ahead of the game by replacing it. So anyone know a cheap source for them?

You may look into (forgive me if its the wrong company name) Jim Brown Saw Sharpening. He is outta fort walton and sharpens most of the blades for my dad and the company he works for, albeit tablesaw blades/ planer blades, down to some of the hole saws and specialty drill bits. Not sure if hes on the www. since hes an older gentleman. Ill see if I can get his contact info for you this afternoon. Even if he cant fix the current one, Im sure he can point you in a good direction as to where to find a good deal on a replacement.

Thanks. I found a cheap one on Amazon that I'm going to give a try but I would like to get this one repaired if I find someone that can do it affordably.

Fastenal used to do it when I worked there but that was 5 years ago

Did they send it out? Because while I like the guys that work at my Fastenal ... well ... I'll just say that they are decent at looking stuff up on a computer but I wouldn't ask them to sharpen a pencil.

Check with a lumberyard. A real one, not lowes. My local one has a sharpening service that picks up, sharpens/repairs and returns every Tuesday. I have that same type of saw and they have sharpened/repaired my blades many times.

Correct. At that time they all went to Minnesota to the main machine shop. I'm thinking I reme that they've since built a southeastern shop
