Since I am not a hardcore wheeler and just wanted a winch for piece of mind. We explore the back country and we usually by our selfs. So anyway I found a good deal (I think) on a Mile Marker 12000 and mount, winch isolator, cover for under $775 shipped to my door. I can't wait to get it mounted on the TJ.:redneck:

It's overkill Pete (both in terms of pull capacity and actual weight) but post up how you like it.

I've got a Warn 12000 on my TJ (only because I traded for it - no money invested) and it's also overkill.

And for what it's worth, I'll trade my W12000 for a late model 8274.

The reason I went with the 12 is all of the 8 to 9.5s were way more money. I know it's a lot of power for a TJ. Also I may build another XJ I miss my old one.

its nice having a winch, especially if your out by yourself like you said you sometimes were.

They're more money because they're faster. :wtf: is a winch isolater?

It go's between the roller fairlead and the hook its made by Daystar. So you do not have to hook to a D ring or tow hook and no rattles. Its a pretty cool deal. I know that the spendy winches are faster but I dought if I use this thing very much as I am not a hardcore wheeler. The winch is like insurance to me.:redneck:

plus you can drop your drift boat down the burn pole on the klama river and not get rope burns:D :D

I love people that get slow winches thinking the're not hard core so what do they need to fast one for...

just wait till you have to spool all that cable back on to the drum, or are in a situation were you can over drive the winch and have to wait, and wait, and wait for the winch to catch up.

Happens more times than you think.

hope it works out for you.

The brown truck brought my winch last evening and I got it mounted.

Looks great - consider getting the cover to keep it out of the weather, keep the garbage out of your cable, etc. I only uncover mine when I'm actually off-the-road.
