Anyone on here who has bored their own 60 spindles to fit 35 spline axles knows how much it sucks. keeping the bit cool isnt an issue but having to stop every few minutes to let your drill cool down really takes up the time. I called the guy from Jantz and he wants 200 bucks. anyone know any good machine shops north of seattle that may have better tooling, otherwise I might be spending a long time on this. :looser:

I think it wouldnt be so bad if insted of boring it with a reemer with the finished dimension bore it with one in between first, thats what I would do if I could, but I cant :redneck:

what about S&N?

I think S and N uses the same randys tool that Im using, not 100percent sure though. Im wondering if theres any machine shops here up north that actually have some sort of line boring machine that will do it in a giffy. I read on pirate some guy got it done for 60 bucks at his local machine shop. labor rates being around 100 an hour usually Im assuming that got it done quick

we used to have a guy come out and do mobile spindle welding on the big trucks. he would turn/cut the old one off and weld a new one on. same guy used to bore pin holes for us. talk to anyone you know who fixes large equipment. he had a sweet truck mounted hydraulic pump and a boring tool with all kinds of jigging. same kind of strange stuff jants does.

they may know of someone other than Janz though

Im thinking that I need to bring it to jonos and he and I can take turn with an air drill. whats taking so long is my stupid electric drill over heats!

son of a bitch!

make it three and bring some rum and coke :awesomework:

Dude you gotta get a hole hog, a regular drill would take forever as you couldn't push hard enough to make the cutter work. We (S&N) have the randy's tool (slightly modified), it's not that bad, I do one side while the other guy spray's air and fluid, by the time one side is done, I do the air and oiling while the other guy does the other. It's hard Fing work, but you'll be amazed how quick it's done if you just stop bitching and get to work.:D

Oh im only bitching because I have the wrong tooling :flipoff: Id have no problem doing the whole thing at once but the damn drill overheats. I bought a new drill with a warrenty at sears :awesomework:

We used a hole hog (sears?) that was about 20 year's old for the first 10 or so housing's, it's still working, but not the rib breaker it used to be, Just got a new billy badass milwaukee hole hog. We use the blow gun to spray into the drill if it is a housing that has had bad bearings and we have to press extra hard through the "heat treated" material
