I got a slice in the sidewall of my claw near the bead last weekend and it took just one or two plugs to seal it up good. It's holding 35psi and has for four days. Here's the deal: I have an unbalanced spare on a factory wheel, should i balance the spare and run it or would it be safe to run the plugged tire 15-20 miles from ORC to home a top speed of 55-60mph? Thoughts?

You should be fine a short distance. At work I never plug sidewalls. With the load on the sidewall, as well as changes in temperature and air pressures the cut/hole continues to tear or rip and can be dangerous. A boot that goes on the inside of the tire is better but still not guaranteed safe. Most tire stores won't touch a sidewall cut, huge liability.

See, that sentence right there makes me want to run the unbalanced spare and just have a goofy lookin' tire/wheel on one corner.

Is there anywhere you can get it vulcanized?

Not really, none that I know of at least.

I want to buy new tires anyway but I can't afford it right now due to the R&P going out, so I just need a solution to get me by for a while. I'm thinking more long-term now, not just the drive him from the shop.

Yeah, I believe I'm going to run this spare rather than chancing the plugs or throwing more money at patching it. That's the cheapest way out at least, which is good because I got word I broke the ARB as well as the R&P. :-\

Glad yer not runnin a sidewall patch on the highway. I don't need to attend another funeral.

i here you on the r&p on the 30. i kept dumping money in my 30, r&p's, lockers, axles, then the axle broke taking the ball joints with it and the wheel fell off. now its sittin in the garage with a 60 and 14bolt but its got a ways to go before its rolling. im about all outta money! i though the 30 would hold up with 34's but i was wrong, last place i wanna be is up on aetna mtn with a wheel fallin off thats why i upgraded but the bad part its goinna be down a while
