I have this craftsman tool chest, and while I love the wheels on the bottom, they don't do a great job of moving through grass. I'm getting ready to move, and I'll need to drag this 8 million pound tool chest across grass more than once to get it to it's new location. I was wondering if anyone had any input on where to look for pneumatic tires for this beast?

I redid our tradeshow carts several years ago with pneumatic tires. They had hard urathane castors and would get stuck on EVERY seam,crack,cord you tried to roll over. I ended up puting 8" pneumatic swivel castors on them from Grainger. Don't remeber the exact part # but they work like a champ and allow the carts to roll over whatever:beer:

That's just a little guy! Just pull the drawers out and move it empty. If you must get new wheels try harbor freight or find the local discount tool store they usually have a good selection.

Edit: Just be careful the Craftsman boxes aren't as deep as the spendy boxes and tend to be very tippy (my 1st box was) If you put taller tires on it. It my end up on it's back.

Get a couple of sheets of plywood and lay them down on the grass....roll from one to the other, then move forward and repeat.... :;

I built a tipper frame from an old handcart that leveraged the tool box onto a wheeled frame. (I used it last on the 1/2 Toyota I was moving around the yard. Kids got a kick out of me driving the front by itself)

That's a cute lil box ya got there!:D :redneck:

Just do the plywood thing as Bill mentioned :awesomework:...or pull the drawers out and move it empty...ain'tstuck's got a good point as well...:eeek:
