Guys my girlfriend got dropped today at cheer practice. She landed on her neck and has damaged her spinal cord. Her left side isn't operating or responding at all. The doctor said that when she fell a disk hit her spinal cord and damaged the nerves. They said it could take hours, days, weeks, or months for it to heal if it does. Some of you know about my grandfather passing two months ago and this is the exact same situation. We are at UAB, the same place and the same doctors from my grandfather. Guys she's my life and I love her. Please pray.

It'll be alright buddy... We'll be thinkin bout ya and pray for a speedy recovery for ur gal...

sorry to hear this i will pray for the both of you just stay postive and keep her postive that helps alot. i hope she has a speedy and full recovery

It's hard to hear stuff like this for someone so young. She is in great hands man, the doctors there are second to none and with modern technology, she will be back up and jumping around in not time. Keep your head up and our prayers are with you. :dblthumb:

Thanks guys. It helps to hear some good words. They told us last night that it looks like at least a week in NICU then another week in a room then roughly a month in rehab. I have been with her the whole time and she's got good spirits. We keep telling each other she will get back to normal, and she will.

wow, is it just me or is this **** catching? My sister just had a huge cancerous tumor taken out, my wife totalled her car, 2 of her employees close to her had a mom with a stroke and the other in a wreck with 4 vertebra fractured, sis in law's baby had a heart murmur, and a couple people on the fringe of "close" to us have died. This is all in the last 2 weeks. Only my sis and sis in law and the wreck directly affected me, but everywhere I look people I know are having problems. Man, my prayer list is long and this is terrible.
It is one of my biggest fears to be cut down with a spinal injury. The positive news is that she is young and has good spirits. Nothing heals better than a positive attitude. When someone decides they're dead, they are. With youth, science, good spirits and God on your side she will be fine. No matter how crushed you are you have to be strong for her and have your chin up if she doesn't.

Hey man, prayers coming to you. My wife just got out of the hospital Saturday. It was scary times. She had a blood clot form in her leg that they had to go in and remove. I know how you feel, just be strong.

update: Ben just called me..
she went to sleep at 5:30 tday still pretty much paralized on one side..

woke up at 730 with full movement and 98% feeling... looks like she's on the road to a speedy recovery :drinkers:

I went in to the 5:30 visit and everything was the same. I left and she was getting a shot of morphine and going to sleep. Next visitation was at 8:30 and at 7:50 she text me and told me to get back there that she needed to see me. I got the nurse to let me in and went to her room. I walked in and put my hand on her right hand. When I did she took her left hand and put it on mine. We both immediately started crying. The doctor came in when it was just me and her and asked if there was any improvement. She took her left arm and raised it up and waved at him. She lifted her leg and moved her foot all around. The doctor looked at us and said,"I can't explain it. Three hours ago you were paralyzed and we didn't know if you would ever walk again and now your healed." it was truely a miracle. God answers prayers. Thanks to everyone that kept her in your thoughts and prayers I greatly appreciate it and I know she does to.
