So I just got another wheeler that needs alittle work to get running good. The truck has a 5" lift, 33's 20r, stock gears and open front and rear with bobbed bed.

Anyways Im building the truck for a wheeling rig and a DD if it is needed to be. I Have $2000 to spend on the truck so I was wondering what you guys would do to the truck with the money.

I was thinking gears, lockers and some bracing on the front axle and hysteer.

Let me know so I can build my truck right the first time.

Thanks, Chris

Bro i would start looking for people parting out their wheelers. . .

I would buy 2 used 3rds with 5.29s and some type of locker. If u shop right and be patient i would imagine you could get both for $400 or below. Then figure $70 for the IFS box, and then $300 for brand new hyster from Odie, your talking what lets say $800 2 be safe.

so u have $1200 left, maybe try and get some 63in chevies or some waggy springs or how about some longfields and maybe a doubler or diff armor and guesset and the longfields.

Dude i would buy everything all used.

Best of luck man! give me a call sometime soon man, anytime you need anyhelp i would love 2 come up and chill and drink a beer and work on our rigs together. Looks like i will have a toyota buy friday:cheer:

I would look for a pair of built axles for under 1500 and sell yous for 500 as a set and have 1000 left over for a winch and bumpers and steering box.

I would deffinately get gears 400, a locker 300 for the front, longfields 600 and hysteer 300 if no deals can be found.

Or dont drive it on the street and get dual cases and leave it 4.10.

:hi:i know a guy whos got built toyota axles with longs cromo burfs, stock axles lockrite in the front, welded in the rear 5.29's for like 1500 bucks.... i believe his name on here is "mydixiewrecked"

I was hoping you would chim in, so I should weld the rear and get a locker for the front? Do you have any 5.29 thirds for a 4 cyl laying around you want to get rid of?

The reason I parted my 2nd gen was to get something I could wheel and drive on the street but I thought about going duals and leaving the gears stock. Is there a disadvantage to having duals on the street?

Is there a disadvantage to having duals on the street?

no but I suggested it cuz on the trail the 4.10s are stronger and CHEAP/FREE but, If you want to drive on the street it will be a clutch burning turd.

(Im going to assume its not going to spend forever on 33s?)

If street driving is a must then gears will be too.

I think stealthrunner had a couple thirds with 5.29s for sale. MarkM is a good one to PM too about thirds.

Let me know what you end up finding, Ill let ya know if I can hook ya cheaper.

theres no disadvantage to duals on the street ,unless your drivelines are shitty and you have 35s 4.10s and a 20r
