So yeah, the old build up plan started at a crawl and then fell flat on it's face as soon as it attempted to walk. So, we're scratching the old plans and starting over.

What I've got now: ('cept now it's minus that fugly ass grill guard)

stuck006.jpg

Plans for the near future:
Toyota version of a "Comp Cut"
Rear bumper mounted straight out from the frame rails.
1" lift for Body, motor mounts, tranny mounts, gas tank.
Front bumper with area for lights (and winch?)
31x10.50x15 TrXus MTs
Aussies FR&RR
Some sort of fix for front springs, they currently sit about 1/2" below the bump stops sitting on flat ground.

*ATM, front bumper will be constructed of 2x4 .125 wall rectangular tubing, and the rear will be four inch channel, mounts will either be 1/2 or 3/4 flat bar.

Did I miss anything? Buggy elitists and Jeep pilots need not respond!:fawkdancesmiley:

(Kidding)

Anyhow seriously? What would you guys change about my plans? I'm a kid on a budget, leavin for AIT the end of July and wanna get some good wheeling in before I leave for 2 months.

I would, but i plan on driving my truck on road for quite a while yet, something that fights against welding up the rear and my extremely limited tire budget.

Sounds sweet, I like the low key rigs. My buddy and I wheeled down at evans a lot in high school and he went everywhere in a '80, locked front and rear, on 31's. Only thing I would add is a roll bar. No lights on it though, unless you like breaking them on every run in the woods:masturbanana[1]: .

throw some home made crossover on it with f250 shock towers and RUF or waggys. run 33s and beat the inner fenderwells with a bfh!

I actually ran a welded rear in my 81 Yota, and the wear on rear tires wasn't all that bad(given the traction gained!!!!X3--->I agree w/ toyzuki, weld r up & have fun!!!:redneck:

Militaryota- That's sorta the direction I'll eventually be heading, but can't afford the time tools, or even the itty bit of cash that it akes to do it.

weld the rear. ive been running my welded rear on the street since may and my tires only look a little chewed. it makes wheeling that much better trust me.

I got some f250 shock towers if you want them free!!! Also if your talking uber cheap steering, thats my goal!! I went out to everett steel the other day and one of the guys I talked to said I could show up with $30-$50 and get enuff to do my steering

I am gonna run solid square stock tubing 1 3/8in thick sq, i'm just gonna drill and tap it to accept either TREs or hiem joints.!! Either way your talking a few buck and just your time mostly, and if you put the bar in right you should never bend it :awesomework:

I'd appreciate being thrown a bone with the towers, that'd be great!! Any idea if you'll be down my way anytime soon?

Good luck with overcoming your addiction too! My mom has 16 years clean as of the first of the year. It's a great way to live life!
