Well, I decided I need a name for my truck. So, since I live on the Kilchis river, grew up on it, camped, hunted, cut firewood, and spendt alot of time with dad when he had his cancer just driving around in the Kilchis area!
I am about to get "Kilchis" underway, I went and got my motor yesterday! I was excited, I'm still excited! My wife can't understand why!! I just need the exhaust system now and some other misc. other stuff, ie; clutch, rad hoses, and all new vac. hoses! I will be replacing anything that might be ?able! I've gotten spare efi manifold off a 22re and all the wiring harness, dist. coil/ignitor, afm, tps, and ecm.
A little background on the motor, I wanted to buy a rebuilt motor, because I just don't have the knowledge, time, or confidence to rebuild my own motor! So, I researched many places and forgot about an old Kraut of a motor head in town! He builds every motor with perfection! He races porsches in Bonneville! The need for speed depends on how deep your wallet will allow! He sold me a 22re motor that basically the only thing "used" in the motor is the block, crank, and rods! Everything else is new! The pan, oil pickup, timing chain, steel backed guides, oil pump, water pump, timing cover, and a complete new head! With new cam and rockers! All this for $1350 + 150 for core! This was the best deal I've seen!

He showed me a pic of a LC motor that he picked up a stage 5, and made it better, he showed me the dyno slip and it's pushing 265 hp at the crank, without nitrous, it was made for a mud bogger!

Nice looking long block. Where is the pic of the rig it is going in? Also wanted to know if that 1350 was his everyday price or did you get a local yocal price. My son is looking for a 22re longblock for his D/D. If you could pass on infor for his shop that would be great.

Everyday price! You'll have to call him and see when he'll be getting one done. I'm not turning in my core, due to the motor has a brand new head on it and I might have few peps interested in the turbo setup! So, I'll get more back in the long run than the $150 core!

Another guy to try would be Ted Stanwood of ENGNBLDR
I didn't go thru him because his son was 4 to 5 weeks out on getting one built.

This is when I first looked at the truck, as soon as I get the truck out of the shed, I'll get some better pics of it! It's gonna have a flatbed on it! I thought I had the bed sold, but the guy blew up his motor and trans!

$1350 does sound like a good deal. That motor looks real purty too!

265 at the crank...I bet that wasn't cheap....

I've gotten busy lately on the truck! Got it pulled out of the shed and into the shop, with a wash in between. It took awhile to get it into the shop since it's a slight uphill slope and no spare rig to get it in there. So, a come along and some rope it's there!

That was a couple weeks ago, and now this weekend I started tearing into it! I had 3 days off, but I had to spend a day in Portland with my grandma who was in ICU. And then I got this horrible cold, and laid me up for a day. So, I had one day to get everything taken care of that was planned for my weekend!
Here is what I got done on the truck.

And the radiator is gonna need to be replaced too! I barely touched the fins and they just crumbled!

I picked up some 3rd gen doors & hood, and some 2nd gen fenders from a local ad a couple of months back. I had to take it all or nothing, but I found out the door hinges are a direct fit between the 2 generations, sweet!! Mine are messed up, and clipping the fender when you open the door!

Well, I finally got some more work done, been sick and busy for a while! Got the motor out and that was fun. My first experience at pulling a motor. Alot of cleaning and scrubbing off grease and caked on oil. And repainting the parts. The front main seal was leaking and so was the rear main, still scraping off cooked on oil in the bell housing. Found out why I couldn't get the old motor to start. I found the wire's that go to the coil were totally fried to the point that I just blew on the wires and they turned to dust!

Luckily, I found a local guy that has a yard and shed's full of parts, and the city is hounding him to clean up his yard. I needed a exhaust, and he had one, so I went over to his place to see what he had! Holy crap! I got the exhaust, gas filler neck, and two doors (just needed the door stop) for free! I was willing to give him $ but he refused, including some beer and pop. The doors have seen better days, HALF DOORS here I come!
I'll get pics up as soon as I download them.

Finally got the motor in, and that was fun!

And it made me thirsty as hell!

But, I got to the exhaust, the free exhaust I got isn't gonna work! The downtubes hit the bellhousing and the crossmember, and I can't even get it close enough to get the studs close! I need to get the header style factory exhaust. The one I got was the big open chamber manifold! Now I got a large list of things to get to finish this!

I've got one sitting at the parts house right now! Along with all the stuff I need that I can get from them! A few things are gonna need to come from Toyota! The one I've ordered is the larger of the 4 cylinder radiators! There are some things that I'm staying turbo style on this motor! The clutch, flywheel, and the larger cooling!
Thanks!

Hey Jeepless, I got the same radiator that you offered, from my local, but it was definitely was too tall! I got the standard, but still larger than the stock 4 cyl one!

I've been doing some stuff on the truck, but not alot. I wish I had alot more free time, but I'm down to the little stuff now! Electrical~, testing, splicing, and re-testing! Making ground wires! I used some old 7 guage speaker wire!

Sent off the injectors to Witchhunter and got them cleaned!

Been fighting some exhaust issues! I was given a 2wd downpipe, and finally found a single tube downpipe that fits 4wd. I'm down to the little stuff since I got the motor put in. Alot of this and a little of that takes alot of time! I had a big list for this weekend, but with only one day to work on it and take care of the yard too! So, I get done what I can!

Here's my cat!

Somebody must have stolen it's guts! Eventually, I'm gonna redo the exhaust and I'll get one with all the guts, but for now I'm gonna reuse whatever I can to get things going! For the cheap!

I'm forgetting some stuff, but pictures and spending time on the computer isn't gonna get things done! LAter for now!
Thanks for looking!

Well, it's finally done and running. So, it's time to tear up the local hills! Between doing a little here and there when I got time. I had a mechanic friend help me start it up, since I've never done this before. And it fired on the first crank and the only thing that is not working is the temp gauge, but I'll put in a aftermarket one for the time being to be able to keep an eye on the temp while I'm puttin in the break in miles on the motor and clutch! I'm gonna put the 89 bed on it for now, until I get the $$ saved up for the flatbed!

Good work, nice deal on the motor and free stuff too. Other then a flatbed what are your plans? You going to keep it fairly stock for now?

Right now the bed that came with it will be going back on! :puke: But I got to save up some $$ for the flatbed, and then I really gotta start paying some bills off so I can do the rest!

My official plans are for a SAS, dual cases w/4.7 & 2.28, 5.29 gears, twin stick, and run 35's! This will be my daily driver.

I picked it up today and I love driving it around! This truck is gonna rock!
