If you need a strong weld with less heat soaking than MIG then swap out the gas for 2% oxygen increase the feed (max it out basically) and spray arc it.Spray arc burns hotter than MIG but it's a very fast welding process used in production environments alot. As it burns hotter and faster you do not have the dwell time in any one spot too long so even though it burns hotter the heat affected area is less than standard MIG or TIG. Currie uses this process on their axle housing, quicker welds, good penetration and less axle warp.
