Im in the market for a set of beadlocks. I like the Raceline Monsters but I like the price of the steel wheel better. I was looking at shipping weight and the steel wheel is lighter than the aluminum monster. Anyone know why? Im assuming becasue the Monster is really really thick for more strength or something? I have an all toyota drive train so I was wanting something light is why I wanted the monsters but if the steel ones are lighter and cheaper I guess I should go with them? Im thinking a steel wheel that is lighter than an aluminum one is SUPER fragile.

If anyone knows a good cheap set of beadlocks, shoot me a link please.

Would also look at used ones if anyone has any they want to sell. looking for 17s to go with my new reds :)

The aluminum's are much stronger and they are because they use a lot more material to make that strength. Due to this they are heavier but a steel wheel of the same strength would weigh quite a bit more. In my experience an aluminum wheel is more true/balanced then a steel wheel and easier to balance. I'd say in my opinion the steel racelines would work just fine for you though.
Thanks,

IMO material choice mainly depends on whether you prefer to break or bend a wheel. My group does both.

I've seen a couple ofl broken racelines.....allied steel beadlocks are $200, lighter, and can often be fixed if you bend one

Yep, I was always a big fan of aluminum wheels, till I broke one on the trail.

Then I broke all 4 on my race truck monstertrucking it at the fair.

Now all my junk has steel wheels

How much does a steel bead lock wiegh?

EDIT: According to the site a steel Allied beadlock has a shipping weight of 52LBS for a 17" x 9.5" w/ 8 x6.5" BP

Seems to me that the lightest set up might just be a plain steel wheel and inner air lock (staun)
